Judith Heartsong's modern take on the classic still-life

That's why she includes the label on a pair: I mean a pear! Judith sent this lovely watercolor as a pair--cut in two--separately, on the same day. One half arrived a couple of days later, and the other arrived 10 days later. So the message Judith wrote, which was cut in half, was quite a puzzle for a little while--as was the whereabouts of the second half, on the part of both of us. All is cosmically whole once again. Thank you very much, Judith, and below is the other side, which is art-adorned in a very nice way also:

Nancy--This is wonderful.  And I hope you don't mind that I piggyback on your blog to post a recent delight that I also received from Judith...

Not only are her painting skills amazing, but I love how dividing the work changes the line of focus for the eye, creating a whole new experience of the triptych or diptych form as a whole. Also that she's not afraid to write on the work, creating a line of focus itself--revealing that our eyes are capable of discerning different draws depending on what we choose to focus on... the very fact of where and what angle Judith --consciously or subconsciously--chooses to write her beautifully scripted handwriting is interesting to note. Look at the angle in your received piece versus the angle in mine--both accentuating the paintings' already determined focal lines, reaffirming them, and yet creating another dimension to fall into at their spot. I'm also just a huge sucker for mixing text and art--which is probably why I like mail art so much in the first place(!)

Thank you for sharing, Nancy, and thank you for GIFTING these artworks, Judith!
