HELP please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My forthcoming Mail Art Exhibition is in BIG TROUBLE

HELP!!!!

I sent out the call below a few weeks ago, and the response has been very, very disappointing. So disappointing in fact that I’m faced with a non-Exhibition.

So, let me make things easier, and ask you to send me an Envelope. Any Envelope

Forget ‘Summer in Sigean’ – just send me an envelope on the theme of Summer.

Envelopes only.

They need not be square ones – any shape or size will do.

But please write ‘Sigean’ on the front of the envelope.

THANKYOU, and apologies if you get this more than once, but I’m getting desperate.

Val

SUMMER IN SIGEAN/L’ETE A SIGEAN

Sigean is a small and beautiful village located in the South of France mid-way between Narbonne and Perpignan, and close to the Corbières and Pyrenees. (see www.sigean.fr)

There is a thriving Mail Art community in the village, and les Envelop-Pistes de Sigean will be holding an Exhibition of Envelopes in the local Médiathèque in August 2012.

The theme of the Envelope Exhibition is “Summer in Sigean”/ “L’Etè à Sigean”

You are invited to contribute an Envelope to this Exhibition.

Envelopes must be 16.5 x 16.5 cms /6.5 x 6.5 inches. (Sorry, but that is the standard format for the Exhibition, and only Envelopes of this size will be accepted).

The front of each Envelope should include a painting, drawing, collage, etc on the theme of “Summer in Sigean”/”L’Etè à Sigean”.

On the back of the Envelope please include your name, contact details and any other information that you think might be relevant.

Only the front of the Envelopes will be displayed in the Médiathèque (so there is no need to put anything inside your Envelope).

Please send your Envelopes to:

Médiathèque Municipale,

37 rue du Commerce,

F- 11130 SIGEAN,

France

before Monday 30 July, 2012.

There will be no jury, no fees, and no return of the Envelopes. A blog will be set up on which the received Envelopes can be seen.

Wow! Thanks for all of these Janine: they are great!

I need Envelopes NOW because there is a pre-Exhibition opening TOMORROW. I have to set it up today, and so will be very busy, very soon.

The pre-Exhibition (which only lasts 10 days) is to prompote the main Exhibition in August. I need Envelopes NOW to show the local people what the possibilities are. My 'philosophy' (which the Cultural Department of the Mairie shares) is i) to have a local art initiative (that involves, schools, Sigean artists, associations, etc), that ii) promotes Sigean in the wider artistic community.

So the pre-Exhibition will include Envelopes made by local children and people, plus IUOMA and other contributions, plus some of my earlier Envelope Art.

I hope to be posting some photos of it soon.

But THANKS again. Val

Hello Relative New Nancy,

Thanks for preparing an envelope. i suggest you either i) leave it as it is, and send it to the Mediatheque in another plain and stamped envelope, or ii) squeeze in either the Mediatheque's or mine address and post it to France.

Either way: anything and everything will be mostv greatfully received;

Regards, Val

Relative newbie about this stuff:  Does the painted/collaged front (with word Sigean) also have the Mediatheque address on it plus postage stamp? (I just did one without leaving room for address + stamp, haha, and need to know if that's the side where I should now squeeze it in. I mean know For Sure.)
