Along with a good and adorned letter, Nadine included this:

A postcard from 1980, published by the Foundation for the Arts in Iowa.  There is no way Nadine could have known this, but I, although a very bad housekeeper, have a thing for laundry on the line.  One of my all-time favorite watercolor paintings is of laundry blowing in the wind, by Sargent, which I saw at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts many years ago and never forgot.  So this postcard, with its picturesque laundry hanging outdoors, was a treat to see in your envelope yesterday, Nadine.  And speaking of the envelope, it has to be posted, front and back, because it is so interesting and amusing.  Thank you, Nadine ~

Do filing systems work for you?  If so, more power to you.  I've finally accepted that I just can't work without being able to see everything in front of me, in various piles, or at least flip through boxes without having to take a hike to get them.  And something hidden from sight in a file?  Here, never to be seen again, or until the next move, which believe me is way too long away.  No actual planned-out and organized system here seems at all functional beyond three days.  So be it, eh?  And Nadine, we kind of crossed mail art -- there was an envelope TO you in my mailbox yesterday, and after the postman left it was gone and there was an envelope FROM you.  Instant gratification!

Ah, Nancy- that's so great that you liked it. You're such a gal friend! I had that card since I lived in Iowa City (for many years near Alicia my amiga prima).Besos to you. I'm working on another with you in mind. I have to work in numbers- laid out so I can find the thing I saw 3 weeks ago that I thought you'd like or someone else. I should get a filing system with people's names on them.
