A Blog Post for Bifidus Jones Hill on a city

Mail Art received 10th December 2010

Ok ok - I KNOW what I saw, Bifidus said I didn't so I'm not saying what I saw although I know I did. Bifidus said it was Latin and was hapic braille - that part I got - the other well...

Clue - I held this to the mirror - he said - WHAT ON EARTH FOR??? I repeat. I'm not saying what I saw because he said that's how rumors start.

But at least he gave me a monkey - well a chimp :-)

Thanks Bifidus - are you EVER going to tell us about the code?  The book is complete.  Isn't it time? Sigh.

Mail Art received 22nd October 2010

I received one of Bifidus' beautifully quiet but intense collages as a contribution to The World is a Town Project. It is so well made it survived the journey to Africa with narry a scratch. Bifidus, it is beautifully integrated -
anatomical text with mapping - the text and linear elements of the map and spine drawing are seamless.

I was going to call it - Is The World Spineless, but that didn't sound like Bifidus to me - and the work is too gentle to infer that anyway. I got the same feeling when seeing the collage masterpieces of Max Ernst in Paris last year - Une Semaine De Bonte - A week of Kindness or The Seven Deadly Elements Novel.

Purely by chance I googled "The Backbone of the World" thinking SOMEONE must have thought of that before me - they had of course (there is nothing new under the sun). It was apparently a movie dealing with
the area of the Continental Divide and the preservation of the spiritual quest for the Blackfoot tribe. (I am sure you Americans will know much more about that) I dont know why, but I also am reminded of a line from one of Mike Bats songs "write it on the walls of the world". Why can I also feel The Ride to Agadier? This is powerful stuff Bifidus.

From Bifidus Jones who I think needs no introduction! Thanks - I was so looking forward to receiving your work, and was NOT disappointed - I hope you are hard at The Crimson Giant?? I am working on the next section as well. Would you mind putting your work into an envelope?? I knows that you nose that. And I wish too that reality was more muted - its loud to deal with at the best of times... THANK YOU!

Interesting informed choice of words MUTE and DEPRESS "only as visible as a stalking shadow".

Bifidus always sends very personalized cards, love that monkey, and "hill on a city". As for the code, I have a feeling that we will never know...

Wow! Four great pieces from Mr B. The ideas behind them, let alone the imagery and the art work are truly outstanding. As for 'The back alley' piece, well, it's an honour to live in the same world, if not, alas, the same towns, as Bifidus and Cheryl. Regards, Val
