The thingy to the left of the right tile on the 1st shelf, with all the knives, is a handle from a cane (walking stick)3rd shelf: the thing on the right is a burnished wood chop stick holder. (All of these chopstick holders are 'on permanent loan' from Brussels restaurants that i used to frequent)

Katerina & Frieder: Yep, old Opinels. Many of the rest are old French farmers knives, perhaps used for hunting, certainly used for cutting wines and other grapestuff
