Towards an independent Catalonia?

I made this stamp collage a few years ago. The purpose was to show that, at least in philatelic terms,' plus ça change, plus ça la meme chose' (the more it changes, the more it remains the same). As Spain moved from the Franco dictatorship to the democratic monarchy of Juan Carlos 1, the stamps remained largely the same -- same portraiture, same colours for the same values. I wonder what will happen -- in philatelic terms -- if Catalonia ever becomes independent?

If the Independistas win the regional election on 21 December they will have a mandate not only to govern the region but also to pursue independence -- but will the national government in Madrid let them? A UDI (Unilateral Decleration of Independence) is not viable for political, security, economic, social, etc reasons. If the independisatas loose the election, then there will be a lot of pent up anger that will seek an outlet. A lot depends on the fate of the (temporarily?) imprisoned politicians now in Madrid jails, and those in Brussels subject to a European Arrest Warrant between now and 21 December. About the only thing I can definitely say is that madrid will play 'hard ball'.

Bonjour M Canard! Mike Dickau has a brilliant 'This is not a President!' Trump arti-stamp. I can't find it, but if you can it's well worth the search.
