CB, the suggestion of an icon is there. For Dw, this is very formal - no "random chunks" thrown on carelessly. The Minx of Alsace is dark in hair and complexion because she is the alter-ego of The Virgin of Maps and Train Schedules.

 

Dw used the work of Louis Janmot throughout the series. Dw now claims he has rediscovered Janmot, "the greatest visual poet of the 19th century beside Arthur Rimbaud." He certainly is prone to grandiose pronouncements! I expect Dw will pay a visit soon.
