Dear Community,

we are new here but actually 40 years in the business of Copyart. Located in Mülheim an der Ruhr the collection of Klaus Urbons celebrates its 40th birthday this year under the topic "Unruly Publishing". We would be happy to welcome you if you are in Europe, but also invite you to participate in our Open Call.

The Museum of Photocopying is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2025! To mark this occasion, we are looking for creative and innovative DIN A4 scanner works that interpret the theme of “portrait” in a unique way.
Background:
The Museum of Photocopying is dedicated to the history and diverse techniques of photocopying. Through creative experiments, artistic intentions and unexpected “accidents”, they transformed the photocopier into a medium of art and a tool for democratized publications such as zines, pamphlets and leaflets.
We invite artists, designers, photographers and all interested parties to redefine the concept of the portrait in the context of scanner art. Possible approaches are:
Self-portraits: Identity through the lens of the scanner.
Portraits of others: diversity of human faces and characters.
Abstract portraits: experiment with shapes, colors and textures.
Concepts of identity: changing concepts of identity
Techniques and experimentation: expand the possibilities of the scanner to create new forms of visual expression.
Technical requirements:
One work with one person as subject, you are welcome to submit several portraits of several people but not many of one person
Format: DIN A4, DIN A3, minimum 150 dpi,
Technique: Copyart & Scanner works (any form of scan-based art)
Work may be made in the Open Copy Workshops, Thursdays 4-7 pm but upload them here
Submission:
Submission deadline: May 10, 2025
Submission only digitally via this form
All Works will be shown in the 40th birthday exhibition from 15. Mai - 29. June
