Fun to see this discussion. This is my first attempt at a linoleum cut print. I don't have a press so I used a roller from my kitchen printing on paper I had prevously panted.  I was inspired by a grafitti stencil I saw in New York last month that said "Not Art" on walls that kind of looked lke modern art because of all the layers of paint and pealed paper on them.  I wasn't really trying to be deep, just a bit cheeky, but if I provoked thought or inspired more art, that's great.  See you all in the mail.

Hi Carmela Rizzuto and Richard Canard,

it's amazing that there are reactions on my posting of the mail art from James Chester.

Yes, ist makes me think and the mail art is on my desk and provoques me

Is this art - mail art? I don't know, because I do not know how to caracterise art.

Richard, you want to know what sort of image it is:

it's a very thick paper with a painted yellow underground and black letters printed with a linoleum block, I think.

Makes you think, doesn't it?

11.08.17 Dare Sa Mue, ...& so, if  "it is not art" ---is it mail art?  It sorta looks like a wood block or a linoleum block print. It's certainly "not a pipe" nor does it resemble any of the  Rene Magritte  images that I'm familiar with seeing.  Is it some sort of reproduced electronic digitalized image that I'm looking at....or is just  a tid-bit of a  conversation?? ....by the way, this isn't a letter---it's some sort of email via the generous nature of Ruud Janssen. Anyway, I remain  sorta curious  as to just what I'm looking at here...thanks to  you & James Chester. SinCelery, Richard Canard
