'Sending something from Greece to the Dutch Mailman, Heleen.

Lately, me thinks that Greek mail art is coming via this postal worker:

carrier pigeon!

Happy Belated Mailman/ Postman Day

to all our hard working carriers, and postal gals, too:

This man is not my mailman - he delivers mail in an other city in the Netherlands.

But I watched tv, yesterday evening, and of course all mail related topics attract my attention extra. The mailman was honoured by the host and his daughter (sitting next to him) because he is delivering mail since 60 years! (He’s 80 years old now)

And the talkshow host, Humberto, invited us to send a postcard to him.

See the address below. So if you want… :-)

I guess the postman prefers nice mail (or any postal related mail, or anniversary mail or?) but I think you know best what to send to this friendly postman:

Happy belated Mailman Day!

Oops! I missed thanking Kevin on Mailman Day, I did not know there was one. But then I thank him every time I meet him. Thank you Carolyn, for the information.

I did some investigation and found our that here in the UK there is no such day, disgraceful!

You are right, Katerina, here we have postmen  and postwomen or more familiarly,  posties. This last word has the advantage of being unisex.

A recent survey found out that they have to walk at 2 miles per hour to deliver the post to about 100 premises in time. Posties claim that they have no time to chat, a thing they used to do.

Our Kevin walks very fast and can always stop for a few minutes for a chat. Once even he fought a couple of crows that were attacking Stella, the new kitten in the block.

Thank you, Carolyn for letting us know that February 4 is Mailman Day!

(or Carrier Day , or as they say in jolly ol' UK: "Postman Day" )

Now to give a belated "Ευχαριστώ"

to my "taxydromos" ( "fast runner/walker")

What would we do without these fine "mail art messengers" :-)

Well said, Carolyn, and (belated) Thank you, Postmen!
