MANHOLE COVER LOVERS

There must be billions of them in the world. We pass them every day. We walk on them. We do not take any notice of them. They are heavy, and usually made of cast iron. They come in many different shapes, sizes and patterns. Look, and you will find them everywhere.

What are they? MANHOLE COVERS, that provide access to local service systems such as water, electricity, gas, and telecommunications.

Post photos of any interesting ones you find here.

DEAR MANHOLE COVER LOVERS, TO KEEP YOU BUSY FOR A MINUTE OR TWO THIS SUNDAY, GUESS WHAT THIS IS?

(And 'No'  it is not any sort of animal)

Answer at end

ANSWER: It's a photo taken by a NASA satellite, space-ship, etc of something on Mars. Maybe it's a rather beaten-up Manhole Cover, and if so NASA should tell us more about it. There might also be a thriving Mail Art comunity on Mars about which more will be revealed to us in the future.

Thanks Alan,

Some people get blue plaques on walls, others get manhole covers.  I can't honsestly say I remember stepping on this one, alas.

I understand Val Herman was in Loughborough in 1984. So was this corporation waterworks cover, outside the old college building … maybe he stepped on it.

But there must be something (a hole?) hidden under this covering object?!?

Great photo anyway :-)

Just tiles and stones, Val, no manhole cover. And the tiles are made for the blind :-)
