Hello again.

This is a Boring Postcard of the Town Hall of Fontenay-sous-Bois (close to Paris) that was sent by Marcel and Josette to their Papa and Maman in September 1978. It contains the usual sort of message: 'We got here safely, are having a good time, hope you are well, send you kisses, etc'

Now look at this Boring Postcard.

"It's the same Boring Postcard that you started this comment with, Val! Why are you showingit to us again?"

It's the same Boring Postcard, yes, but it's different.

It's still the Town Hall of Fontenay-sous-Bois (close to Paris), but this one was sent  by Marcel and Josette to their Pater (not Papa) and Maman thirteen months later in October 1979. It contains a remakably similiar message to their earlier one: 'We got here safely, are having a good time, hope you are well, see you soon, etc.'

I got these two Boring Postcards at different times at different places, and the chances of that happening are very small. Alas, I haven't got any more of this Marcel/Josette - Papa/Maman correspondance, so don't know if the same Postcard was sent before 1978 or after 1979.

Equally, I don't know if there were any other postcards available in Fontenay-sur-Bois in the late 1970's, but if you're going to send a Boring Postcard once, you may as well continue to be boring and send it again, and again, and....

Bonjour!

This one -- the Noorderkerk (North Church) in Amsterdam -- was sent to me by Jennifer Wallace, who asks "Boring? Or simply odd?"

A bit of both -- unless you are in the scaffolding business in Amsterdam, me thinks.

(Note the basketball hoop at the bottom right of the card -- it's location in front of the Church does strike me as odd.)

Thanks No Idea!

If you don't want those 3 Boring Postcards, can I have them for my Exhibitions, please?

The Sanatorium one shares a common feature of Boring Postcards -- it doesn't seem to be composed properly, with the main building somewhat off center, the buildings to the left fading away, and just forest on the right and in the background and foreground. But that might be what makes this a Boring Postcard.

Katerina,

I have keyboard problems: the text for the photo I sent you should have read --

This is what my father drove circa 1962; it is a Morris Oxford Estate (I did not get a driving licence until 1980°.
