I have sent out 8 envelopes 15 days ago, yet no one has posted to say they received anything...is this common here?

Thanks for those who posted on receiving my mail.....I needed confirmation that my mail was actually making it to the post office....and no, in the future i will not expect this, but as I am new and when 0 of 12 were posted , I became suspicious of my mail delivery, which has been a issue for me in the past. I live in a rural area.....and no one , including the postman is ever in a hurry. ....plus I'm pretty sure he's related to Newman, from Seinfeld. So no worries, and thanks again for those who responded to the original post.

There is no "unspoken rule" in mail art or here at IUOMA that says someone is obligated to post (blog, gallery scan etc,) m-a received. In fact, nothing obligates someone to respond to mail received at all. That said, most people are on the site because they want to trade. Some of us enjoy documenting mail received but that's a choice.

You might smooth the way for exchanges and to check if something was received via private message back channel. It's a thing between 2 people, not the world.

Ruud Janssen once said you should think of ma as sending someone a gift without expectations. I think that's sound advice.

Now if you send to a sponsored m-a call (a show) the curator is responsible for documentation. That usually means an online catalog. Sometimes hard copy catalogs are still done.

If you wonder what happened to something you sent an IUOMA friend, why not just ask them directly? People contact me all the time.

Recipients should not feel pressure to document or even respond to all mail received. Many times we have had people on the platform have anxiety attacks over this.

Just have fun, make art, make friends

I am terrible at posting and letting someone know I got their mail... instead I just send mail back as my acknowledgement... xx

Cookiefish, I received your beautiful carrots but I am a little behind in posting acknowledgments!

My mailman is like Newman from Seinfeld....he picks up the mail, but it seems to take days to get to the actual post office...some weeks I get everyone's mail in town, but my own....and I suspect he watches my Netflix movies when I return them, based on the return time when sent from my home box, 4-5 days compared to directly dropping at the PO. a consistent 2 days. ( I only live 2 miles from the PO.)....so I merely wonder if my mail even made it out of town.....before you ask....yes, I have brought it to the Postmasters attention.

Not everyone posts here: some people have their own blogs or other websites, some people post infrequently if at all. Most of us have a job too. When you get mail back you will know your MA got there. You can always message someone about mail. I saw a topic about this somewhere on this site, but I don't remember where. Good luck!
