Thank you for the explanation; very interesting. Watching birds is also very uplifting for me, too.
Carien in fact my winter looks lighter and brighter because from October to March when the days are smaller these little birds give me joy. After that they fly to north to Scandinavia.
Yes Sabrina, they take the nectar from the Aloe Vera flower. And that was how the idea of providing honey and sugar water came up when there were no more flowers to suck. Then other birds came along.

I did not know they take sugar water, but after I saw your video I learned that they also take nectar from flowers during winter in Southern Europe. How interesting!
Water with brown sugar. I also provide a kind of insect porridge. Today I've received the visit of black birds, black redstart, robins, warblers, sparrows, and of course chiffchaffs.
