Luz Castaneda was born in 1964, in the State of Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Inexplicitly, her artistic trajectory started during her university studies in Genetics. That is, searching for knowledge on the essence of life, Luz found a world of forms, colors and magic meanings that will show up in her artistic expression two decades later.
After a solid academic performance, Luz decides to apply her acquired knowledge on the consolidation of the global peace culture. It was in this context that, within art, she found a tool for education toward peace, where brushes, paints and spiritual practice converge to the same landscape: the broadening of human consciousness.
A fruit of this idea is the artist’s participation in the Rede Global de Educação para a Paz (Global Network of Education for Peace) and in the creation of the Ceu Aberto: Arte e Consciencia (Open Sky: Art and Consciousness) collective atelier.
From her studies in Biology, the author has understood that living matter is defined by means of a process of creative tension between the permanence of the species and its change. The work of Luz Castaneda expresses this tension, and invites the observer to review himself before Life. A mutating, pulsating, brilliant work impregnated of colors and organicity, which, however, maintains recognizable forms, preserving the imaginary species which accompanies the author since her studies of Biology.
Her paintings are well accepted among Europeans and Americans, with several pictures in private collections in France, Spain, Colombia, United States and Brazil.
