Whilst |I was in Iceland in October I asked about DVDs of the sagas which would have French subtitles and was told ... surprisingly... that the Icelanders have made very few films about the sagas... yes, I also found this hard to believe... I went into the biggest dvd store on Reykjavik mainstreet and they had NO dvds of the sagas (modern stories yes, not filmings of the classic sagas).I'll look again the next time I'm there.

Hah!  I was just ... JUST ... working on scene 13 of Helgisaga III, trying to perfect a really irritating sound of a mechanical mosquito when a real mosquito flew into the space before my face... attracted by the sound perhaps?... it now lies squashed on page 42 of the printed working script....

In Helgisaga III the French son (Keyne) of the Dutch fellow (Hubert) who plays Fallowfied plays Watcher 4, 'e speaks English with a wonderful French accent. I love it!

More than I could count Yves!  The Icelandic Film Industry has made several.  When I am there in November I'll have a look to see if the are DVDs with French subtitles.

There is also a very good recent book on the history of the Vikings 'The Hammer & The Cross' by Robert Ferguson. The book makes much of the French (Charlemaine and Normandy) connection.

The BBC is currently broadcasting a series on the history of the Vikings.  I am recording the series.

I tried to send you a copy of the script og Helgisaga II but the email address you have here did not work. (?)

Of course!  I have read them all and the Edda.  AND I am currently working on the final part of my own saga trilogy Helgi Saga.  I was in Iceland in February and August and I go back up to Reykjavik at the end of October.

This is me on the north east coast just 3 weeks ago:
