Blaine, Now that I see your picture I realize I've seen you at the reference desk at SFPL! I work near there so every day I'm in the office I come by on my lunch hour to check out a new book.

Did I mention that I worked for 10 years at UC libraries? Five at UCSD and Scripps and then five at UC Main Library - all doing bibliographic services (no library degree though).

Best, Heidi

Kubla Khan arrived yesterday to Republik van Patland.  The huge gap Oakland-Curitiba is being bridged handsomely.  God save your brick!  Sooner rather than later you will hear from Patland!

Compared to how long we will be dead,  the two centuries wait for the postal system to connect from California to Brazil is barely a drop in the ocean. I let you know, however, when and if I receive the mail art you sent.

Earthling, this is the last but certainly not the least welcome message to IUOMA you receive. I’m a celestial mail artist living in a heavenly corner of the faraway universe called Republik van Patland. When you joined IUOMA on february 15 I was unable to welcome you on board.  At the time I was in a Celestial Journey far beyond the Milky Way. Now, back to planet Earth, I´d love to be the other end if you wish to trade mail art with a celestial mail artist. If this is the case at the time your envelope should read as follows:

The Celestial Scribe

Terrene Embassy

Republik van Patland

Caixa Postal 24827

Curitiba-PR

80510-970

Brazil

I look forward to see a piece of yours in our terrene mailbox. I´ll do my homework after receiving your artwork. This is nothing less than a Celestial Promise. I’m Patricio, Celestial Scribe & Republik van Patland Official Envelope Provider.

That's quite a coincidence, Blaine. We lived in Westbrook 1991-2001, on Mast Rd! You must not have been far from our red rental vacation house in OOB, either, corner of W Grand + Ocean. Thanks for your friendship ---

On the day I received your mail, before I had even opened it, my daughter came to me and said she was going to write a story based on Alice in Wonderland! Serendipity! Thanks. I also love the Rosa Parks stamps!
