Bonsoir Svenja! Sorry to hear about your problems with the Post Office; all I can say is that I hope that things get better.

I live in a small village (of about 4,000 people) and, over the last year, have built up good relations with my local post office and post lady. They know I send and receive unusual mail, and don't seem too worried about it. I recentluy decided to test how 'local' the syetem was and sent an envelope to myself addresed 'herman, 11130'. I think I am the only herman in the village. 11130 is the post code of the village, but not my house, and so with this minimum amount of information my challenge to the post office was to deliver the envelope to me. They did, within 24 hours, which was pretty good; Vive La Poste!

I never buy commemorative stamps -- they are too big, and usually rather ugly in both their design and execution, and in the (usually) bizarre theme that they are celebrating. I just use ordinary, small stamps, and design my Mail Art for them.

Good luck in the future!

Regards Hilton Val

Dear Svenja; This is a friendly welcome to the network, from a friendly mail artist living in a friendly country. A good starting around here seems to be snail mail art exchange.  I would like to be the other side on this very beginning with you.  Your envelope should read as follows:

Patricio Duprat

Av. Paraná, 1489 apto. 1004

Curitiba-PR

825210-000

Brazil

I look forward to see your piece arriving on the mail.  I will send mine to you after receiving yours.  It’s my promise.  By the way, I have an old refigerator full of the same stuff that is in your closet. My wife loves it as you imagine!!!   Patricio

Dear Svenja,

Welcome to IUOMA!

It seems that you certainly have enough cards etc to keep you busy for a lo,ng, long time here at IUOMA.

It's a great bunch of folks and I hope that you enjoy exchanging Mail Art with us. I'm your Mentor, and if I can help to ease you into IUOMA in any way, then please don't hesitate to ask and I'll try to explain what's going on and how IUOMA works.

If you haven't already done so, I suggest you take a look at the 'New to IOUMA' page (4th from the left at the top of the IUOMA home page) where you'll find a 10-point Introductory Guide that should give you an insight as to what is going on.

Would you like to exchange some Mail Art with me? If so, send me something to 1 Rue de la Vieille Fontaine, F-11130 Sigean, France, and I PROMISE to send you something back.

Hoping you enjoy your IUOMA days.

Regards, Val Herman
