a nice Sunday activity

Lucky me, my spouse brought coffee to me while I was in bed reading this morning. Nothing on my schedule, my calendar blank, which is the new normal. After some time, I went into my studio and starting to cut words out of a magazine I thought I'd keep then decided to recycle. Oh, and a bunch of circles in two sizes. It was so satisfying to do this. So I made a few small random word poetry collages. …

4 cards today

I was sitting in my studio watching the video of our daughter's zoom wedding that took place on 7 July. It was such a sweet memory of this event, which they'd pulled off in only 4 days! And covered many times zones around the world. I grabbed some supplies and made these four cards - standard postcard size. I think I'll save them for an idea I have for a small art exhibit in front of our house. My plan is to put up a string and clip small art to it for people…

Something Happened - not shells, ROCKS!

Who stacked the rocks remained a mystery.

They became a tourist draw,

but a longer route

had to be found over the mountains.

That was…

Shells - again

An enormous shell appeared one day. No one knew who put it

there or even HOW it was put there. It was quite an inconvenience.

Too heavy to move, it remains there.…

Shell series - ongoing

On the reverse  -

The giant shell emerged so slowly that the yachts remained afloat.

It stayed there for ages, drifting slightly. No one was sure how to prepare for it's leaving,…

Shell series - ongoing

On the reverse,

When the daily shell hunters arrived at the bench, their astonishment was palpable. No one knew how to carry away the giant shell nor where they'd display…

Landscape Beautification Project

For a long time, I've been altering vintage postcards, usually fairly boring ones, with the addition of a piece of art. I have a lot of fun finding just the right piece, with the right angle, to set into the landscape. This is one I did last fall. I'd popped it into a storage drawer, forgot about it, and am now sending it out. Finally, in 2020.    Can you spot the addition? …

Shell Flotilla series

I started this series because I was gifted with a bunch of vintage postcards with many multiples. I love multiples for making series. I'd been cutting shells out of a book and thought they'd be perfect for this. On the reverse is this story: The towns' people gathered annually on the shores of the Suwannee River to watch the Shell Flotilla (or something like that.)…

An apology, of sorts

Hello dear IUOMA colleagues,

I want to let you know that I appreciate all my incoming mail, add and pass, ATCs, and more. I've been slow to respond, absent from responding on-line, etc. because I've been obsessed with writing postcards to voters, to get out the vote, here in the USA. I'm obsessed by this. I'm getting aches in my thumb joints, and wrists, and maybe even writers elbow (instead of tennis elbow, a game…

My newest Landscape Beautification Project

I think I've learned how I need to save photos in order to post them here. Fingers crossed I did indeed learn it.

Postcards with an important purpose

I've been sending mail art postcards out into the world for a long time. And I think Mail and Mail Art is VERY important to improving the world.

And now I've another purpose for sending out postcards. I've become a member of a group sending out postcards to voters.…
