Mail Art Martha: Hommage à Dean Marks

This has to be the best Mail Art I have ever received.  Wait a second, it's my mail art that I sent to Martha !  So let me get this straight.  One receives Mail Art, then makes it better and then sends it back to the person who sent it?  Maybe I should have increased the explosive charges when I had the chance!

Of course what Martha has done here is to reply to all of my fire questions and statements.  And she did a great job of turning it around and making it funnier.…

Kerri Pullo: Sometimes I joke when things aren't funny plus more

Well nothing funny here.  This is a serious piece, and it's mine all mine!  The scan doesn't do it justice, but the frame is a glossy silver paint which brings out the 1.5 million (yes, I counted them) small ink dots.  Ad the string is the thing that brings it all together.  A delight indeed.

And it doesn't stop there, the back;…

Marie Wintzer: Rock n' scroll and the spoon without a needle

As the saying goes; "those who live by the scroll, die by the scroll".  Or is that the needle?  In this case there are no needles, but the ever present paperclip that has no purpose of being there at all.  Yes, deep meaning here of what one is and what one is suppose to do.  (Note to self: Don't write blogs before breakfast.)

An ad for one of the first color…

Cheryl H. and her Fish Net ...

No these are not Cheryl's fish net stockings!  But rather a clever idea for the fruit bags that the rest of us throw away.  It came in a clear envelope and all the cutout dots dance around when you shake it.  (Note to self: "Shake it" and "fish net stockings" should never be mentioned in the same blog.)

Thank you Cheryl, Fun & very…

Val Herman: The master returns to beer mat art.

And there I was thinking that Val was lost for good to Arty Slides.  What a surprise to see the ole Val back on the beer mat track.  OK so we can't read what it says, but it's a great start.  Are there any non-blondes out there who can read Swedish?

And Val is coming back with a THUD…

Jim Sant Amour: New York photographs

My first ever mail art from Jim Sant Amour.  These are his own photographs he took in New York in the MOMA garden.  Now that's a great way to get around the copy rights question.  Thank you Jim, great work, you have inspired me.

What a wonderful name; "Sant Amour".  I wonder how the Americans pronounce…

Charmed by Stephanie Blake's Charm Art

What a bewitching surprise to put this one out of the mailbox.  Now this is the way to do it.  An envelope without being an envelope.  I must tell Katerina.

To me these look like milk tabs in a clear plastic envelope, but would you open it?

Suus in Mokum: Sun Snake

Magnificent ink drawing from Suus.  I can't stop from gazing into it.  It's hypnotique !

Suus tells me that it takes her about an hour to complete one of these little babies.  It is part of her meditation of the day.  What a great…

Sarah Churchill: Part 1 / 6 198 of 365

I like numbers so this title is right up my alley.  I always think that works of Mail Art should have names, but numbers stimulate the thought process as well.  Like who received part 2 / 6 and how can we really be sure that there are only six parts?

But look deeper into all the detail; who’s marriage invitation is on this piece, and is the walking trail 13 via Garn…

Stripygoose Sue: Two Chickens take some advice

A real treat arrived from the Stripygoose herself.  It is 123 of 365, but then what happens after 365?  Do you have to pay Andy for an extension?

I am told that an UK postcode (zipcode) narrows it down to only a few streets of the address.  This also…

Ana Kawajira: Poema Dada 2010

Another level above me.  A great poem which I put into Google translate and really got confused.  I found that DADA doesn't translate, but the barcode does.

This is the envelope and a post card of Ana's work from 2004.…

Katerina Nikoltsou & ViZma Bruns pair up and the country goes bankrupted

You saw the photos, you read the blogs, but now the Mail Art is the real proof that Katerina & ViZma met up in Greece.  And the mixing was carefully controlled.   Katerina on the front and ViZma on the back, but then again it depends which side you pick up first.

Includes airline baggage tags, food ads and the receipt for a new swimming suit.  LOOK OUT…

Angela & Snooky: The tale of the lost dog

As you may have guessed, the tale of the lost dog was behind him and he could not see it due to his long hare.

I enjoy looking at this piece which has more details that the scan can not pick up.  Very fun.  Thank you Angie.

Katerina Nikoultsou: Beer cap upon sandpo

A landscape of sand paper with the setting of a beer cap to light up the evening sky.  Now how fab is that?  Well here it is, and it looks better than the real thng.

My guess is that the red sand paper was imported from Germany.  The bar codes are just an extra.  Thank you…

Vizma Burns: She is still out there in the light blue younder.

It looks like Vizma arrived in Riga, and being such a nice sister, purchased her brother some D&G after shave most likely in a duty free shop.  And being the nice MAil Artist she is, I got the box.

Just for information, I use ARMANI eau pour homme, and not after…

Amy Irwen : Chainlinked and totally together

A wonderful piece where Amy broke down a  larger handpainted collage to made this one. The sewing puts it all totally together. And it arrived in this funky envelope made from an old calendar of guitars.  How many people have calendars of guitars?

Well just for you information, this one is a Stratocaster which is one of 100 that were handpainted by Pamelina…

Erni Bar and the German post slip

Maybe Erni gave the German post office the slip, but I'm sure they will find him some day!  I have no idea what this could be, but I'm sure Erni can explain, and then Janine can give an even better explanation.  This should be good.  Watch this space.

The flip side has greetings from Hamburg.…

Mail Art Martha and her Shopping Trolley Art Gallery in London - The Flim

When I was in London, I had the chance to meet in person Mail Art Martha and see her famous Shopping Trolley Art Gallery.  We both agreed that there is no reason not to share these moments with other Mail Artist, but also the whole world.

I hope you enjoy this new star of the silver screen in her acting debut.  Here is the link: http://youtu.be/oQlUFrpRUvU

Amy Irwen's :Pirates book Part I - Complete first edition YO HO HO

Long long time ago in a far far away island, I received this Pirates book from Amy, but only got the chance to blog the first page.  http://iuoma-network.ning.com/profiles/blogs/yo-ho-mate-amy-irwen-comes-ashore-with-this-delightful-pirates?xg_source=activity

I always knew that this book deserved a complete blog, and my ship came in.  Read on if…
