Apfel Keks -- "Eat Art" -- from Off-Scene Akademie at Hamburg

Ok, "Off-Scene Akademie" wasn't on the package this time, but "Eat Art" must emanate from that view and its priors. Stills of an Apple Biscuit from Germany experiencing life in OOB today: A whole.

Bite one: Bite two:…

Cans On Blue, from Katerina Nikoltsou

This is the second time Katerina has stitched a found can to a K.N. blue painting, but this time we have 3 at once:  There the piece is, now on a wall, as it arrived in a large envelope. Katerina may have thought I'd want to cut the cans free and eventually do something else with them, but this is a work of art unto itself from Kat.'s own mail-art sensibility, and I love it. It…

Hamburg bottle caps, crushed cans, reptile, rope, dark pink O's, toothbrush--you name it

From Erni Bar, of course, but even extra variety:  Cameras in Maine don't like close-ups. Will Erni kindly include in a comment his photo of ALL the bottle caps laid out plainly and beautifully? It's posted now at the E.B. Fan Club, and quite wonderful.

We…

Envelope art and "Travels with Collages" from Guido Vermeulen

Stephanie's post below about Guido's amazing book has me blogging same day as arrival, a rare occurrence. First the envelope art, then a bit more of the book:   Title: "What hits me in the eye is that there is no end to our imagination." Clearly.…

Found trashpo/rustpo sign from Lynn Radford! Let's guess: This sign didn't work?

If you love rust, trashpo, tin, and old signs, mail art couldn't get much better than this. Here is what it looked like straight out of its packaging, before the window provided the sun's backlighting:…

Heidelberg Owlsters (Owlstars!) from Svenja Wahl

After sending a kind of strange abstract piece to Svenja which ended up looking like a square owl, I received this from her: All decked out in their babywear. Wow! Am I in love! Aren't you? Hilarious. I have many Svenja favorites, and this ranks right up there with them. It sorely tempts one to continue to send oddball not-meant-to-be-animal mail art to her.

She also…

Stephanie Blake is generous ...

... and NBS is greedy. I ended up I.D.ing 3 trashpo buttons I wished for, figuring only 2 would arrive, but no:  Stephanie kept track of people's wishes and she sent all 3. They're fabulous. Thank you very much Stephanie, Claire, and Diane!…

Curiosities in an original package from Laurence Gillot

Enclosed was a group of what Laurence referred to as curiosities, and she was right. Cool stuff. Curious packages are always welcome here--thank you kindly, Laurence! …

David Stafford explores the feelings of this woman missing a tooth ...

Here she is, and her dilemma actually speaks to universal human experience:  According to David, the tooth problem "tilted her joy, skewed it to poignancy, made it complicated, and finally cast a heavy shadow over its sincerity." If that doesn't sum up well what the terrible cosmetic traumas we all experience do to us, I don't know what would. The perceptiveness is…

Cool and unique mail art from Ana in St. Augustine

Ana used cutouts and paint for this collaged piece of cardboard, and look at that unique shape! I really love it--many thanks again, Ana.

Also from Diane in the same envelope ...

One gorgeous collage:  She included several interesting tidbits, and among those here is the main eye-catcher:

Her note is included above to show the relief it would provide here in OOB and Diane's great sensitivity to safety. As a leading trashpo…
