NEWS FLASH: The Queen does not dress down even when peering out of ordinary housing

This isn't Buckingham Palace, right Dean? But I don't know, maybe the Palace signs are hidden underneath the glued-on wooden fork that is plastered against the house. The Queen doesn't even look surprised by the fork. There seems to be a little consternation on her face, but I hear that isn't unusual :

This is from Dean Marks's "Mail Art on the Road" series, of course,…

"First Day of Issue" special from Bifidus Jones

The Eugene O'Neill stamp+envelope from October 16,1967! What a beaut Bifidus sent me, and notice that he included quite an education. I learned numerous things about O'Neill that I'd been sorely ignorant of until now:  …

Leopard art+ from Janine Weiss

Two of the three pieces in Janine's anarchic-looking envelope feature leopards, among other things, including a talkative and/or brave bird. These are delightful:

She also included another collage, more abstract and yet still we can recognize a creature in the corner. At first I thought a dog, but now am wondering if it's another wild cat in a rasta hat. In any case,…

Lynn Radford sends D-Konsumer Konsciousness No. 1:12 !

An excellent collage that I consider a most successful "experiment in consumer consciousness," as Lynn puts it:

It's an inspiring addition to the Kult of D! Thank you very much,…

Amazing asemic threading from Rebecca Resinski

She did this on a page of text, so that the threads are covering, or almost covering, every word. It's a fine, beautiful, and mysterious piece. This is the second time I've been so fortunate to be richly surprised by mail art from Rebecca in my mailbox. Thank you very much, Rebecca…

Mr. Twig and his Big Step, the Mr. Twig Studies, his artist's vision, and his artist's as-yet fruitless instructions: by David Stafford, who has the patience of a saint

David sent me a huge box with the incredible following items back in March. The tale's main subject, Mr. Twig himself, reveals a tentative but brave grace as he starts up David's watercolor-painted stairway into a cave marked The Secret of the Ages:

The painting is 14"x14", and Mr. Twig is haptic. He is real and strokable. And he is on his way up into something many of…

"Small Things" Exhibit #6 from Theresa Williams

"The International Archive of Small Things"--ok! This project of Theresa's is fascinating, and both sides of her card are below. I love the poem. Thank you very much, Theresa, for this and for the project itself: …

Nadine Wendell-Mojica's mother and I could have been friends

Not just because of the hair philosophy, which I'd love to follow. Nadine and I had a dialogue covering some pretty wide territory that led Nadine to declare her mother and I would have liked each other. No doubt! :

Nadine's uniqueness shines through in everything she does. Her envelopes are always great too, but the deep plum one below really makes one swoon. Thank…

Erni Bar sends me passion!

Mine, that is: rusty and/or crushed cans--and this time a lid, to boot! This can, though some earlier ones compete well with it, is my very favorite so far.  Am IN love with it: It is such a beauty, I have to look at it every day. It doesn't get put away. Here is the other side of it, along with some other amazing crushed cans in this batch: …

Katerina Nikoltsou sends UFOs via PO, plus collage materials from Greece

The UFOs floating around in blue are a riot:

Gave me such a kick, Kat!

Collage materials, including a great squashed and rusty Buckler bottle cap plus numerous tiny paintings by Katerina, arrived via a tiny box in an envelope. She seemed quite surprised that it got here, and I'm just glad it did. Thank you as ever, dear Katerina ~ …

Red Art from Jane Smith

I really like this, the first mail art I have received from Jane. Interesting design of words, images, and red, and the cheerfulness of the address side is appealing too. Thank you very much, Jane! …

Marie Wintzer's "Written Oracle"

This exquisite-exquisite-exquisite piece arrived from Marie last month and blew me away. Others have written of Marie's book far more eloquently than I could, but here are her pages of this edition, with apologies for camera/scanner: …
