Coffee letter, Marcela/Diaboli, Plzeň, Czech Republic

Marcela is working with pinhole cameras and has attached one of her photos in this very personal letter. On the photo, we see an old and devastated spa from Pilsen.

Marcela writes that the spa is having a secret, under the golden triangle exists a…

Pure enchantment from Vaida

I love the historical feel to this beautiful piece.  It eludes categorization. So worth looking at in full.  It begs for a context.  http://thepostalleger.blogspot.co.uk/2013/02/marvelous-mail-art-from-lithuania.html

Thank you Vaida.  I am…

Groundbreaking!!!! Dean Marks Organizes the Biggest Fundraiser in Mail Art History!!!!

I hope you will support Dean Marks in his effort to raise money to save the USPS. He has an offer from the Louvre to DOUBLE any funds raised by IOUMA. He has come up with the genius idea of the Mail Artists of IOUMA Nude Calendar!!!  These would be tasteful photos of course, and there are some rather large stamps available no?

We will give a large portion to Ruud, of course, but think of your poor postal workers--worked half to death, trying to compete with robots, the constant brunt…

Roland Halbritter: Arti Stamps from Germany

Roland lives in Germany.

Roland makes Arti Stamps and other clever mail art.

Roland is not a member of the Banana group or even a member of IUOMA.

Roland and I  send Mail Art to each other from time to time.

Roland so far has not said that he does not like what I send him, so this is a good sign.

Roland says I can use these Arti stamps in my Mail Art to all of you.

Roland, that is just what I'm going to do.…

Diane Keys: Please

Please Please Please help me

When I was younger, so much younger than today,

I never could paint or draw in any way.

But now these days are gone, I'm so self assured,

Now I find I've changed my mind and I paint like before.

Thank you Diane, The black board brings back some great memories. Like having to write 50 times, "Dean will not make the…

Stephanie Blake: The Bunny, Rose and LAdy

The Bunny, Rose and LAdy in a clear air tight lamination.  How do they breath?  Should I open the lamination to get them out, or must they stay in the package?

Thank you Stephanie, a breath of fresh air.

Erni Bar: Can Can Can, but are they for real?

Just when you thought you could do no more with Trashpo cans, Erni pops them on a background and the whole idea takes a design approach.

The three cans have been pinned on blue packing foam.  In a frame with backlighting, these could look FAB on a wall.  Sadly the cans are unsigned as they normally are, but I doubt that these are Erni copies.  They look too…

The 'Velopes - 30 Years of Mail Art - now on CD

The long wait is over!

After 30 long years of evolution, some say de-volution, the most unexpected art eBook to ever feature the highly obscure and arcane subject of ‘Mail Art’ has arrived.

Mail art is merely mail turned into art, or visa-versa, that has gone through the postal system. Little of it is seen by the general public, but postal workers have a front row seat, and they will tell you that it comes in many shapes and sizes, and all very creative. Someone…
