Why I am involved in Mail-Art:
To be a friendly global neighbor, a citizen of the world. I love surprises. I like to send mail without any notice or expectations.

and (more)...

Mail-art feels like sending a message in a bottle, out into the vast waves of the Post. I'm intrigued by its relative anonymity, yet intimacy. It's a way to explore, to make positive creative connections, to be free to express, experiment, and exchange.

I enjoy the conversational aspect, whether or not any words are involved. And the excitement of distance and delivery: I love to think about our mail-art in transit, being seen by others along the way, as it travels a network that's expanding in all directions. I'm interested in mail-art history, and I care about the future of mail-art continuing to exist in physical format, so that others can see/hold it too.

 Things that inspire me (Pinterest)

I've been playing with patterns, stripes and grids, maps, notations, handwriting, printing, ink, watercolor. My art muse - I adore art made by young children; kids' art inspires me to just let go and embrace awkwardness and imperfection.

Thank you for your comment. The shapes in "Land of Olives 2012" are based on the leaves of the olive tree.  They are traditionally considered a symbol of peace. Google -- 'olive branch symbolism'. So when I read the Call for Entries back in 2012, the olive leaf as a symbol of peace came to mind, and the artwork evolved from that. The leaf form is a beautiful abstract shape as well.
