NEW PICTORIAL STAMPS:

The Waikoa Island Post Office will issue a new series of stamps for normal mail usage, announced the Governor, Dr Sverre Hanssen, today.

The four stamps feature photos of scenes on the island; the photos were taken by the Governor. Designs are:

17 tanos … Band rotunda in the Minaue public park.

35 tanos … Giant prickly pear cactus, Minaue.

85 tanos … Duck and ducklings.

2.35 reis … Horses.

Each stamp also shows the flag of the Protectorate: a Mevu flag with a large blue W superimposed.

Date of issue is 7th July 2014. The stamps have been printed in full colour and perforated 12 gauge, by Chan Hui Shudian Printing SA, Minaue.
