Thx as ever, Richard.

Erasure and typing over are all the rage in higher circles of the post-avant, from what I see.

Rebecca Resinski has made a small sensation in mail art with her over-typing of the great Bronte sisters. My first thought, too, was Rauschenberg erasing De Kooning. That Rebecca Resinski should PRESUME to type over the Brontes. And then I should PRESUME to type over Rebecca and the Brontes! We have a questioning of "literature" and the "author" here.

In terms of something that actually means anything to me: You might have noted people are generating asemic symbols with this over-typing method. Jim Leftwich said something about "making a new language on the ruins of the old." That comes dangerously close to making sense to me.

I see theoretical pieces these days about rendering the coherent incoherent, the sense and insensible. But, true, once we have rendered everything incoherent (or turned it to black trying), then what? I don't know either. We'll have something else by then.

The poet Robert Duncan - not actually opposed to the avant - jabbed in one of his "Passages" about "fashionable incoherence."

There will always be dance music. There will always be fashionable incoherence.

08.08.17 Dare Mister  DeVillo S., ... yes, yes . I have enjoyed /admired the recent collaborative efforts of you & Ms.  Rebecca  R.  ..... & I am also encouraged to ask myself  "where does it ultimately lead"??? ...mayhaps some sort of multi-blanketed "solid-black" printing of text a la Ad Reinhardt & or Kasimir Malevich?? Or the other direction:  an "Erased" Resinski/Sloan (a la Rauschenberg's "Erased DeKooning") ?? ... Well, it's probably best to just relax here & visually absorb what you two have already thoughtfully & playfully  offered.  Thanks for sharing. SinCelery, Richard C.
