C Mehrl ["Cathy"] Bennett sent me this and made me wonder about creating this 'twisted' effect but I found little on help or interest online. Anyone have advice for this poor ol' mail'artist' who can't[?] draw?

Hi Ficus!  If I were to guess by just looking at this, I’d say we are looking at handmarbled paper, with a sliced piece collated through it at the bottom.  I’m not sure what you mean by twisted efffect, maybe wondering if this can be done with the computer, “twisting an image” in this specific way.  As a complete non computer user, I have no idea if there is a program or technique for doing this.  With handmarbling, you drop the colors onto the surface of water which has been thickened so the pigments/inks float.  Then you would take a tool of some sort and carefully swirl it around to make the colors “twist”.  It is a very cool technique and addictive!  Makes me want to sign up for a handmarbling workshop.
