This graphite drawing went to Maxima Strange as my version of a Victorian Christmas card after I found out the Victorians send each others Christmas cards with dead birds depicted on it.

I love this drawing so much! It will go in a very special place in my home. Thank you and happy new year,

Turn it round and it becomes an upright -- if not live-- robin.

Victorians also ate dead birds for Xmas -- turkeys and ducks and geese and even swans. I wonder if they put those on Xmas cards too?

Do Americans put pictures of live or dead turkeys on Thanksgiving cards?
