Why I am involved in Mail-Art:
Went to Printed Matter in New York for a panel about Ray Johnson, an artist I deeply love. Crackerjack Kid tossed boxes into the audience and I caught one. He said that if we added to and returned we'd be on his mailing list. Of course I wanted to be, so I did. I'm an artist working in mixed media in New York City.

You are very welcome. It feels like my summer is over because I've been back at school teaching for the past few weeks.

Thanks for the beautiful card and wishes that has just arrived on Christmas Eve. Warmest wishes for the new year,

  • tENTATIVELY, a cONVENIENCE

Thanks for your friending.  Alas, I barely participate on IUOMA at all (even though I'm very glad it exists).  In honor of your friending I'll post a link to the latest movie I put online, a reading from my recently published book entitled "Paradigm Shift Knuckle Sandwich & other examples of P.N.T. (Perverse Number Theory)": https://youtu.be/pWiuslygsWo .  best wishing wells, tENT

  • tENTATIVELY, a cONVENIENCE

Thanks for watching it.  It's just a 3 page excerpt from a 407 page book so out of context it's harder to understand than if one were to read the book from cover-to-cover.

Li I dropped something to you in the mailbox. I'm just Uptown so you should get it by weeks end. All The Best KV

  • Kosmo Vinyl

Thanks Li, I didn't know - I will definitely make an effort to go. I don't think I'm familiar with John Dowd's work.

  • Kosmo Vinyl

Thanks again Li, I read that - very interesting. I shall definitely visit the show.

  • Kosmo Vinyl

Li thanks for the tip about Ray Johnson at Matthew Marks. Must confess that I didn't have that on my radar. As for Printed Matter my brain was reeling from my first visit there !

  • Kosmo Vinyl

Not sure that it is at the moment - will have to check with Lyndon House, Athens GA when I go tonight. You can see  couple if pieces and the poster at https://kosmovinyl.com/news/

  • Kosmo Vinyl

Thanks for the kind words Li. In the spirit of an "add-on", Jack Logan drew the figures and I diid the stamp background and lettering.

  • Terri Jones

Hey Li, thanks for sending my the Add+Pass!

    Totally unexpected.

    :D

  • Terri Jones

Oh not a problem at all! Of course we can be friends! :)

  • Kosmo Vinyl

Thanks Li, I look forward to receiving It. The show at The Lyndon House Arts Center, Athens GA is still on - it runs until the end of July. The postcards look rest, framed and up on the wall and both the opening and Artists Gallery Talk went well. The Lyndon House does not show the work being exhibited online- they're very community based and all about people visiting in person. Già guardando la cartina si capisce come è la Liguria.  una striscia di terra fra mare e collina ...STUPENDA!  ti abbraccio . Bruno

  • Carmela Rizzuto

    Hello Li,

An artist that explored mail as a medium is Lenore Tawney. She is relatively unknown,  but you may enjoy her postcard collages. A wonderful book of her mail collages is-- Lenore Tawney: Signs on the Wind, 2002. Google her for examples of her imagery. Let me know what you think. PS: thanks for favoriting what I post.

  • Carmela Rizzuto

Hi Li----I'm glad that Tawney appeals to you. I think that you will enjoy the book. By the way, she lived in New York, even more reason to explore her art.

  • Norma Soulet

    Hi Li,

Hope you are doing well .

Today, I mailed out an art piece for you.

Please let me know when it arrives and hope you send something my way too.

    Have a nice weekend!

  • Kosmo Vinyl

Li, with regard to the "To & Fro" (Jack Logan and myself) postcards, I don't know how to post images on here.

  • Norma Soulet

    Hi Li,

Thank you for letting me know my Frida Khalo card arrived and you like it. I love Frida too.

If you are having problems with your scanner , I will upload it, ok?

I can't wait to see what you mail to me.

Hugs and have a nice trip

  • Yayoi S.W.

Hi Li, thanks for the blog post :)
The air is much better. I hope you had a nice vacation!
  • Carmela Rizzuto

Thank you, Li. I enjoyed the challenge of channeling Lenore Tawney.

  • Yayoi S.W.

Hi Li, thank you for the beautiful collage. Interestingly I received another mailart from another member which also had the same bird...two same birds in one week!
  • Kosmo Vinyl

Was/is quite an honor - to put it mildy.

  • Bill Porter

Glad to know that you liked the card, Li. I'll be looking forward to your send.

  • Cascadia Artpost

Glad you enjoyed the Famous Postmarks! I hope Carl will reconsider at least creating artistamps again, but he seems right now to be having fun moving in new directions, based on his Facebook page.

  • Norma Soulet

    Happy Birthday, Li !

Hope you have a wonderful day!

  • PATRICIA LANDON

    a small world indeed!

  • Cascadia Artpost

Li, you're welcome. The Coffee Clutch was a "spontaneous project" - done on the spur of the moment after picking up a Coffee News at a local restaurant. All of the addresses in Coffee Clutch are real, in the Cascadia Diorama. And LoJack is a real sock monkey who just got into real estate. The response to Coffee Clutch is so great that another Coffee Clutch will surely appear again this fall, and you'll be on the list to receive it!

  • Richard Canard

Dare Ms.Li Araki,  Would like to simply underscore your praise for the artist Jack Lattemann of Cascadia Artpost. I  also find him to be habitually playful, amusing & inventive. Thanx for posting & sharing here at the IUOMA . Best to you. Richard Canard

  • Cascadia Artpost

We're glad you've enjoyed the latest Clutch. Note: some of the Clutch ads are actually "real", for example "Pinnacle Text" by the friend Alison. I hope you consider participating in the "COVID 19K" in August and stop by Rachel's Soup Kitchen on Highway 102 if you do a road trip some weekend. It's always good to get some fresh outdoor air and escape your COVID-infested neighborhood!
