I love to create things - but even more than that I like to share the things I make. I love the inspiration that comes from receiving art from others, and nothing beats the experience of holding actual art (as opposed to just looking at electronic images, say). I like having 'treats' to look forward to - and receiving mail art is a big treat for me. I get huge joy from imagining how my art is travelling, and how it will be received when it arrives. It makes me smile.

Hi Petrolpetal and sorry I have been ages letting you know of the safe arrival of your mailart. I love the way you've done the lettering and on the envelope too. Yup - would love to exchange and will get down to the post office soon. I am making mailart every day on mailart 365 but am getting a bit behind with getting stuff in the post. Still there's always tomorrow (or Monday actually). Have a great day : > )
Thank you so much Petrolpetal - I have enjoyed reading your newspaper article. Please feel free to join my new project which explores World War 1 through Trench Art, a type of Folk Art. Check out Worldwar1TrenchArt for more information, send me you ideas! thanks Theresa

Petrolpetal...you didn't sign your piece for This is Just Mail Art, but I recognize your style and your iconic red envelope! I've logged your piece here: http://iuoma-network.ning.com/photo/from-petrolpetal-11-4002?contex.... Beautiful pen work, embroidery and applique. Great textures!
Many thanks for the collage card and the 'Fly in the Ointment' poem.
I was going to serenade you with my mouth organ, but alas the sound would not carry to SA. So I'll bash a few chords out on my electric guitar, and hope that you can hear them.
Thanks for the mail, beautiful card! I looked the Japaneese paper theater up on youtube, I didn't know about that. Thanks for the tip. I'm sending something soon.
Throughout the centuries, the native tribes of the Northern American Arctic Region have harvested wooly mammoth tusks and bones. There are tales of frozen wooly mammoths being found in ancient glaciers and being chipped out from the ice to be cut up and eaten . . . 12,000 year old meat . . . I'm not too sure how I would prepare something like that.
Thanks a million for your wonderful mailart! Feathers and all! I've got to take some time off work and get some post out to all the fab people that sent me art. Have a great day!
As you say, there is nothing like holding actual mail, so Monday I shall send you some mail art with the Cascadia Artpost postal address. Cascadia Artpost has existed since the year 2000, and takes inspiration in its name from our beautiful Northwest region with mountain range of the same name, the Cascades. Despite our predominance of cloudy weather (though we are in the midst of a sunny week-long break in what usually is the stormiest time of the year), I would not live anywhere else. More in the mail soon - we look forward to exchanging mail art with you. ~ Jack @ Cascadia Artpost
Thanks for your comments and interest - I am thinking of making an e-book of my artistamps - I do have at least one of each (I think), catalogued and numbered, and have been scanning them as I go along - archiving them, etc. all are included in the FIVE/CINQ Unlimited Archive along with my collection of Mail Art and Artistamps from around the world - Look forward to exchanging with you.
Thank you so much for your mail art, Petrolpetal! Great artistamps - I rotated the envelop on this picture a bit so two of the three are shown upside-up now! And look how the SA post succeeded in cancelling all stamps, so I think even the post company regards them as apt postage.
Thank you also for the parts of the newspaper. I can read and understand it well (I like languages, and I've read some Afrikaans before - however I think not every Dutch person can understand it). All of them very interesting articles. Thank you, baie dankie, dankjewel!!
