I love to create things - but even more than that I like to share the things I make. I love the inspiration that comes from receiving art from others, and nothing beats the experience of holding actual art (as opposed to just looking at electronic images, say). I like having 'treats' to look forward to - and receiving mail art is a big treat for me. I get huge joy from imagining how my art is travelling, and how it will be received when it arrives. It makes me smile.

Earthling, this is the last but certainly not the least welcome message to IUOMA you receive. I’m a celestial mail artist living in a heavenly corner of the faraway universe called Republik van Patland. When you joined IUOMA on September 12 I was unable to welcome you on board. At the time I was in a celestial journey far beyond the Milky Way. Now, back to planet Earth, I´d love to be the other end when you decide it’s the right time to start trading snail mail art. If this is the case at the time your envelope should read as follows:
The Celestial Scribe
Terrene Embassy
Republik van Patland
Caixa Postal 24827
Curitiba-PR
80510-970
Brazil
I look forward to see a piece of yours in our terrene mailbox. I will do my homework after receiving yours. This is nothing less than a Celestial Promise. I’m Patricio, Celestial Scribe & Republik van Patland official envelope provider.
Thank you very much, Petrolpetal. I look forward to your m.a. arriving and will send in return.
I love wax and always wished to use it--but not possible in my situation. So, the painting and folding of book pages in various ways and use of accidentally paint-splattered waxed paper takes its place instead.
"I get huge joy from imagining how my art is travelling, and how it will be received when it arrives". Celestial postal handling is the answer in this case.
Thanks for joining the Venice group. And we will snail-mail-it as soon as I'm back home here in Maastricht. Age is no barrier:) I was serving in the Royal Air Force sitting in a bunker deep under Maastricht, protecting the world against communist invasion when you were born :~)
Hmmmm.... paranormal road.... wait! I'm getting a message from beyond ....ah.... it is from someone I think you must know.... I'm getting "writing instrument"... do you know anyone called 'Pencil'?
Thanks Petrolpetal. I look forward to your mail art and will send mine in return... The postboxes in my background picture are really in use (Houseboats in sausalito, CA), I love them, so many storiesof mail here ! Amicalement, Raphael'L

Hello Petrolpetal - I received your great MA today - thank you! I am very busy with deadlines for the next month or so, but I shall try to get something out to you soon...
btw, may I ask what kind of silver pen you used? I love it! It's so fine and thin (the lines it draws) - the one I have is quite thick.
I have read one of Alexandra Fuller's books and have another I began but have never got back to. The world she depicts, lived, was nothing like my African spell, really, but I loved reading her account. And then again, earlier in the year I met up with someone who had grown up in Kenya with English parents and she was completely dismissive of her books. I loved Kuki Galman's book,'I dreamed of Africa' probably because where she lived wasn't too far from was and I had tons and tons of snakes - in my house, in my pit latrine, in the garden (I shiver to even type it). That same English Kenyan knows Kuki and wouldn't think of reading anything she wrote...
Thanks again for the mail art. I hope to send you something soon!

Wotcha!
In the NE of England, which is where I come from there are lots of affectionate names for women including, 'Duck', 'Luv', 'Sweets', 'Pet' and 'Petal'.
Thanks for the explanation.
Just don't get too far down and too dirty.
