Architecture/Architectural

I have found architecture and architectural elements fascinating for as long as I can remember. And was surprised there was no group already created that revolves around this topic or these images.  Open to anything revolving around architecture/buildings/or the elements that make up these parts of our society.

Just to get the ball rolling....

  • Lorinna Denise Hastings

This is a great combo., many of our city gardens have roof top gardens.
  • Alana Schlotter

I do like the idea of a rooftop garden, kind of like having a little oasis in the middle of a busy city....

    Lovely work!

  • Alana Schlotter

You're welcome res! I admit I started this group for selfish reasons as I have a lot of pictures of building/architectural elements that I wanted a reason to use. So hopefully this will help me start to use up these images.  And plus if there are others that have the same interest, why not celebrate that?

Some people doodle flowers or fish.  I doodle ornate columns.   something soothing about the symmetry and function.  Are you architects or designers too?

  • Alana Schlotter

Hi Heide! No I'm neither an architect or a designer.  I work at a university library....

A bit of architecture from the Russian avant-garde architect Vladimir Krinsky. "Architectural fantasy" (drawn in 1920).

  • Ilya Semenenko-Basin

Vladimir Krinsky. Experimental design of a skyscraper, a building in Moscow. 1922-1923. Sketches. Layout of a house.

  • Ilya Semenenko-Basin

Vladimir Krinsky. Sketch for an experimental design of a communal house. A drawing from 1920. Facade.

  • Brian Callahan

The 3 Vladimir Krinsky sketches and designs are very interesting, thanks for posting these.

  • Ilya Semenenko-Basin

    Hi Brian.

    Thank you for your response.

I confess that my interest in the work of the architect Krinsky has an autobiographical motif in it. Krinsky lived for more than half a century in a marriage with a woman called Lyubov. This Lyubov is my great-great-grandmother (she is the sister of my great-grandfather on my father's side). I have heard stories about Krinsky since I was a child, but I never saw him alive.

  • Heide Monster

Oh Ilya, what fabulous sketches! I adore his cubist tendencies.

  • Ilya Semenenko-Basin

    Hi Heide.

Thank you for your feedback. At the beginning of the 20th century, there was indeed a reception of Cubism in Russia. Young artists and architects massively became the followers of Georges Braque and Picasso.
