RAK's (Random acts of Kindness)

I noticed there was no group for this, and I thought that there should be because it is nice to wake up to an envelope of goodies without knowing it was coming. You can also post wishes on this page - things you would like to receive to give people an idea of what they could send you.

Jessica, when you say "pretty paper and envelopes", do you mean stationery? And UK postage stamps to mail, or used postage stamps from anywhere to use in collages?

RAK in the mail today. YIPEE

  • Lynn Radford

Ashamed to say that I joined this group, but hadn't checked in since then... sometimes, busy isn't best. Like David A. Goldberg, I'd not posted my likes and interests and yet someone took the time to learn a bit about me... Yesterday, I received an anonymous package containing the following... food to feed my washi stash! This kind, anonymous donor has tugged on the strings of my Washi heart. I have looked at every one of your addresses and it doesn't match. If it was one of you, you were quite sneaky about it. If it was not one of you, then I fear I shall never solve the mystery....This might have been what tipped them off:

Whoever you are, THANK YOU! The florals were a joyful spring gift of Washi Proportions! They truly made my day! Now to give serious consideration to making someone else's trip to the mail box a treat! :D

  • Jade H

Wow Lynn, lucky you!! That's some pretty tape :)

  • Lynn Radford

Thanks, Jade. I am. It is. I just wish I knew who to thank for the lovely gift/gesture.

  • Toni Hanner -- tonipoet

Thanks whoever sent me the two stapled together postcards, very old, that had printed on them "Do Not Bend--Do Not Open"--you knew I'd have to take those staples out, right? I love the pictures of the people on the reverse sides of the two PC's. One of the PC's has a letter to "Dear Brother & Sister" from Mr. and Mrs. B. H. W. and the other has just the names, Elvira Smith, Anthony Ferris Smith, Ada's mother and father. Love them both.
  • Katlynn

Received a RAK from Ohio today! I am so inspired by everything I received! I especially love the vintage photos! Thank you whoever you are!

  • Al Hoff

I have BOXES of old images (photographic, illustrated) cut from 100s of vintage mags and books. send me a message, and I will be happy to send some along. Random is easiest, but I will try to honor specific requests.

  • Toni Hanner -- tonipoet

Trouble with RAK is you're never sure if that's what your mail art really is -- but this one had no return info, and was very mysterious, so I'm guessing that's what it is.

  • Lynn Radford

Update: The Washi RAK I posted... mystery solved. The sender gave herself away when she asked if I received a package. :) It was a dear friend trying to surprise! That, she did.

  • Gretchen Brautigan

Hi Linda, it was me, Gretchen who send you the envy of ephemera. And YES, my dad really has a cousin named Linda Freeman! Lol.  Hope you find some inspiration in some of that stuff!

  • Susan McAllister

Hi Al, I'd love to have some of your vintage materials. I am fond of illustrations, but I will be delighted to receive whatever is available. Thanks.
  • Gretchen Brautigan
