The cover and back of the trash book I was ecstatic to receive from trashpo leader Diane a couple of days ago:

The whole blog post, with more photos, can be found right here.

Yah, none of it is intentional distress (at least consciously). The thing posted below looks distressed because it was ripped off the canvas and there were several layers of paper and paint used in building the piece, and you're looking at all those layers from underneath/behind. You're also looking at only part of what was once the whole piece, as it didn't come off cleanly.

The other one, that you have now, was another multi-layer collage (on paper) that I put aside and lost in the morass here. It wasn't finished, and when it showed up on hurricane irene day and I was nervous about the storm, I just continued working on it with dryish paint and a little bit of ink. Guess it reminded me of you in some way because it was in the mail in a few hours.

For whatever all that's worth!

I really need to get a picture of the piece you sent me Nancy. "FauxTrashpo" might apply here as well--something intentionally distressed or discarded art--this definately looks like trashpo to me I love it because it looks like peeling bark

Some fantastic pix have been posted here (and Rachel Perry Welty has A LOT of patience). This is not fantastic, but below is the back side of a collage I gave up on and ripped off of a canvas a few years ago. Cecil called this sort of thing decollage at the time, I think. There are bits of these in the studio, and I've always wanted to do something with them but never knew what, exactly. Now they look like trashpo to me, but are they? Or do they need a qualifier, like backward trashpo or accidental trashpo or flip trashpo? Or ... maybe trashpo is trashpo is trashpo.

Tidy communities make it difficult. I hope you don't mind that a small envelope of Old Orchard Beach trash is soon on its way to you.

My most recent trash finds.

Nancy, you did set the bar really high. Paper trash is good so it can fit in a regular envelope. It does take me awhile to accumulate good trash. My family finds most of it for me:)
