Hello, I tidied my bedroom this week and found a lost add & pass sheet. It's already been to Bonniediva and Melissa Wand (in September 2018!). Would anyone like it next?

Carolyn, you didn't miss anything. If anyone's interested in receiving the package and doing something with the contents and sending it on, all they have to do is let me know, I'm going to the P.O. tomorrow.

Anyone in the USA interested in participating in the CRASH BURN LOVE Add & Pass project? It's all sealed up and ready to go. I got things started with a few additions of my own and now it's up to you.

By the way, I recently designed this stamp. I haven’t used it yet, but it might hand some clue to the recipient :-)

Hello Bill,

To my experience there are no rules nor any guidelines at all. Sometimes the one who started an A&P writes on the sheet ‘when full, return to .... (his or her address)’, and many times no such thing is written, so it remains a question where the sheet will end.

Speaking for myself, I’ve had an ‘add and return’ project (in which I sent out art on postcard size) of which it was clear that the receiver was asked to return after adding to it (see my group ‘what or whom is she staring at?’). Other mail art I’ve sent out ‘in the wild’, and as there are no rules, all options the sender would choose, were and are okay to me.

Generally I think it polite to return a piece when the sender asks for it, and if a piece of mail art lands in someone’s home for good, I think that is all in the mail art game. If I’d like to keep something which I am supposed to forward, I’d scan it, keep the copy, and still forward the original.

I’m looking forward to reading the others’ thoughts!

I have a question about Add & Pass: is there a guideline/tradition/protocol for determining a final resting place for a piece?

For example, if a piece was of special interest to a recipient and the person wanted to keep it for whatever reason -- to hang in their studio and appreciate it, to exhibit it as an example of mail art and Add & Pass, etc.

OR: is the general guideline to appreciate the piece in a transient way -- simply to groove on it while adding, and then send it on?

I'm new here and like the concept of Add & Pass. I realize it's a collective process. Am just curious to hear the viewpoint of various members and find out if there are any specific guidelines or traditions. Thanks for your thoughts!
