I think most of you know that, beginning next month, I have a five week residency in Venice at the Emily Harvey Foundation. I will arrive on the 16th of February and leave on the 23 of March.
My Lufthansa flight LH 4088 from Frankfurt to Venice is due to arrive at Marco Polo airport at 18:25
It will be my first visit to Venice.

My address for this period will be:
Rod Summers / VEC
c/o 637 San Polo
30125 Venezia
The telephone number of the apartment is 041-520-4328
I still have to check whether my mobile phone (T-mobile) functions in Italy.

I intend to make two projects during my stay.
1. I will record the sounds of Venice and then work the collected samples into a ‘Venice Concerto’.
2. I would like you to come to Venice so that I can make a photo portrait of each of you in a different location or situation. For example:
Vittore Baroni is a mail-artist so I will make his portrait in a post office.
Ruggero Maggi is known for his Amazon travels so his portrait will be made either at the train station or the airport.
Enzo Minarelli is a performance poet and so will be photographed in a theatre.
Emilio Morandi is the VEC Peak Freak…. But as there are no mountains on the island of Venice I will photograph him and his wife Franca on St. Mark’s square where he will have a climbing rope over his shoulder.
Roberto Pasquali will be photographed in a library.
I have had email exchange with Anna Boschi but I can’t remember the location we had decided for her (please remind me Anna)
And I have not made a decision about Graciela Gutiérrez Marx (please confer with me on this Graciela.)
I would also like to include portraits of Antonio Sassu, Lancillotto Bellini, Bruno Capatti, Claudio Romeo and Maurizio Follin. We should discuss suitable locations.
I will also make a family portrait of Dorina and Luciano Zarotti in their home in Dolo – Venezia.
The project requires that you are photographed with a Venetian background so I hope it is not going to be a problem for you to get to Venice for a day? Please confer with me on this matter by email as soon as you can.

These portraits will then be uploaded onto Ruud Janssen’s IUOMA website so that all the members can see them. If you are not a member of IUOMA contact Ruud. I will also post them all as a slide show on the VEC website and also on Youtube.

On the 28th February I will be using SKYPE to participate in my regular live slot on Raul Marroquin’s TV broadcast and Internet webcast HOEKSTEEN. I will probably do that from Viareggio where I will be visiting Vittore Baroni. anyone who would like to join me on that broadcast should contact me.

Please send me your telephone numbers so that I can call you to arrange these meetings.

My best greetings
