History of IUOMA membershipcards

Since the beginning in 1988 there were always IUOMA membershipcards printed and distributed. Not in a central way, but mostly by a member designing a card and distributing the cards. Sometimes they send them to the General-President for a signature.  So several variations of the membership cards are in archives and collections. Always a new variation and always connected to someone who says he/she is an IUOMA-member.  Also in 2016 and 2017 cards will be sent out, and IUOMA members will design new cards for sure. In this group we collect all the designs and activities connected to these IUOMA mebership cards.

When you receive an IUOMA membership card. Please sign it and make a photo of you holding the card and publish it here. If you want a special membership card for this purpose, just let me know.

Plan for 2019 is:

step one : we need a design for a membership card 2019

step two : we print it on thick paper and distribute.

step three : we start using our membership cards when visiting official institutions and document the results in this group.

Due to postal rates no hardcopy membership cards are sent out since 2020.

27.08.23 Dare Mister Ruud Janssen, .....& so, once again...." Money & Mail Art don't Mix." ----Lon Spiegelman (1941-2002)..............when I first got involved in this "Mail Art" business as a beginning "Mail Artist" (in the early 60's) the postage rate for a U. S. postcard was 5 cents. Nowadaze,The rate is 51 cents (& as I recall, plus an extra 5 cents for an official U.S. 51 cent Postage printed little white card). --- Mail art  & Money obviously are now beginning to be intricately intertwined.------Considering the economics of the here & now & the reality of old age, the IUOMA has become a means for me at a daily attempt in maintaining my interest in this noble art form by way of  viewing the many artists at the IUOMA.----  & You, Ruud Janssen have long maintained & contributed monumentally to Mail Art & to us all.Thank You (over & over again).   SinCelery, Richard C.

Postage is now too high to supply the demand...

Ruud, calling  Ruud, help! Please! Can you remember when did you send these cards around?

Comment by Mail Art Martha on August 13, 2019 at 11:26am

You had a good reason to look happy! Love that photo :-)

I am amazed about the colours, it makes me think of the 60ies, early 70ies, but I think this membership card must be from the 80ies, is it?

Here is the original IUOMA card issued by Ruud himself as President of IUOMA when we were only snailmailers. With me looking ridiculously happy. Anybody can download it and alter it adding personal information.

And here is one I made myself.

And here are some without my name that folks are welcome to use in making their own membership cards.

If you want a full-size version on any, please let me know (along with your eddress) and I'll send it to you directly.

I made a couple on membership cards for myself on the computer.

Here's a fancy colorful one to send via email; and the PDF of a simple b/w one to print out and hand-color -- for use when mailing.
