with an assembling zine the work is sent to each participant(originals not copies of the work). it may not be obvious by the pictures from circulaire 132 -  but that's all original work glued/taped into the zine.

No, I haven't taken a look at the Circulaire 132 website yet. I must do that! Thanks for the suggestion, William. :-)

terry, i'm glad you're finding the Circulaire 132 post inspiring. it was one of the first mail art assembling zines i contributed to when i started to get back into mail art and it's still one of my faves. you can see a lot of the back issues on their website - if you haven't taken a look at it yet.

jennifer, yeah, i think there are rules buried beneath the surface. i think everyone has their own version of those rules. i mean rules for themselves as to what they think is ok and what they think is not. do you keep everything sent to you? do you pass work on to others? do you add or mutilate what is sent to you and send it back to the sender or send it on to someone else? do you respond to every piece of mail sent to you? i think those are some of the rules that everyone decides for themselves. and of course there are basic rules for mail art calls.

Thanks for sharing your Circulaire 132 selections, Williams. I am hoping to join in this endeavor soon and seeing others' work is both education and inspiration for me.  The art is wonderful!

jennifer, remember the old saying - there are no rules in mail art! for the assembling kits i usually keep everything myself as i see it as part of the whole.

ha. i feel the same way jennifer. same when people send in pre-printed postcards for an assembling project where everyone else is sending in work that's been handmade.

ah, then maybe in a future issue we'll be in the same issue jennifer. it's interesting to see the different types of paper. though there seems to be a few people that use paper towels instead.

Printing on toilet paper... hmmm, that's an interesting idea. But 40 sheets are quite a lot, must think about it.
