I think graffiti could definitely be classified as asemic....

I've never intentionally created an asemic piece before, although I decided to give it a try this morning. I was just curious if I was on the right track here, or if I've missed the intention behind the style completely?

I need to cut this binary thing: order vs. chaos, found vs. (what?) not-found. Divisive and ultimately artificial. I'm liking Bruno's pieces more and more. I totally agree with JMB and that's why I was intrigued by the street sign.

Gents  -  I like that poster you made De Villo, and I really like those pieces of yrs, Bruno

I don;t think there is really such a thing as chaos or "chaotic" - one just hasn't seen or sensed the pattern(s) yet...

Bruno, I hope you feel anything can be put on the table for discussion. I like these pieces you've posted A LOT. I'm spending more time with them. I think what you're doing is more purely and elementally asemic. I admire that focus. I'm coming off a long vispo binge, so I'm still thinking a lot about the interplay between word and image. I'm focusing on popcult images for sure. No, I don't wanted stylized pop. Tarantino - like him but I shudder to think... Excellent discussion as far as I'm concerned.

Bruno, as soon as one thing is addressed you bring up another. You mention work that is "chaotic." (OK, below is chaotic, but was I supposed to use girls scouts in a row?), I think your point is really important. Because I also see asemic writing that is very linear and text-like. And then there are the more chaotic things. Obviously, there is a place for both. I do, however, wonder how far the boundaries can be pushed.

Thanks Bruno, and here's something to illustrate my point. I was so impressed by the destroyed poster JMB found in Mexico that I have just created a poem called "ASEMIC POSSE FOR JMB." Structurally, it's pretty much based on the poster. So that's what I was trying to say. Yes, Bruno, the clutter is pretty unbelievable:

Here's the thing. OK, it's a distressed poster in Mexico. Maybe some people are not comfortable taking it home as art or presenting it as art as is. (Personally, I'd send it to Ficus to blast with a shotgun for artistic finishing.) Anyway, there are some cool ideas on that poster for letters you might want to make yourself. There's an idea for a collage you might make. So, like John did, you could grab a photo and use it as the basis for your own piece. You could take out your trusty notebook and sketch it. You could take pieces of the poster and combine them with other things. It could serve as the basis for something. Those are other ways to approach it.
