I know there has been discussions about glues and thought this recipe I got from professional decoupage artists might be useful to someone. It's been very humid in my parts and not much else has worked for me. Mix equal parts of Clag (kid's paste glue) PVA (wood glue).

Hope that's helpful.

I'm loving TriArt matte medium for collaging right now.  Cheaper than Golden and works as well for me.

Yes,I suppose there are lots of commercial blends. Modge Podge is good for all sorts of uses.

I used ModgePodge previously but as it comes out of the bottle it is so thick it causes lumps and bumps.  I have tried thinning it down with water and this creates a brushable glue that works better in some ways but then is so easily absorbed by materials like newsprint and magazine cuttings that it makes them fragile and wrinkles.  The mediums available from Golden and Tri-Art (variously matte, semi-gloss and gloss) already are thin enough to go on with a brush so they don't bump up the surface and you can lay a news cutting down and brush over it carefully and get it very flat without tearing or damaging the surface.  It is also a lot faster drying (both brands) than ModgePodge so speeds up your work (but be careful of your brushes!!!)   I really felt like it was a huge improvement over ModgePodge.  In fact I have a large bottle of ModgePodge that I am struggling to find uses for as I don't want to use it on collage.  It does okay to assemble envelopes, afix embellishments, anything not involving thin, wrinkly or easily damaged paper.

Does it dry clear?

Yes.
