Event Description

Due to the expense of mailing these, I will not be sending any china overseas. :(

Both of my Polish grandparents lived through Nazi Germany.

My grandpa used to tell stories about the war and one of them was about working in the china factory, where after they were done eating they would just toss the plates out the window because they were worthless during the wartime.

To me this story is a beautiful representation of the destructive forces at work during that time period, and i would love to capture it in my own art.

We have a set of fine china given to us by my grandparents for our wedding, and we don't host parties at all, we're just not that kind of people. we've hung on to the dishes for going on ten years and i've decided this is how best to get rid of them.

If you would like to receive a (most probably broken or chipped) piece of our wedding gift, please RSVP with the promise you will return the favor by sending back a piece of your own artwork to my grandparents, who hang on to life by thinner threads as the years pass by. These people truly are survivors.

their address:

Superhero, I would be happy to send your Grandparents something nice in the next few days. I love dishes so pick me out a piece but is there any chance your daughter may want those dishes someday? A few years ago I got my Aunt's wedding dishes from the late 40's, I love the dishes but they are special to me because they were hers. Just a thought!
