Again Chris, no worries, I'm way past my rooster and beans era. Keep the kids entertained I say. But there'll be no jolly-balloons from this child. Just blue sky and irrelevancy. Onward.

I'm grateful for your participation, Keith. For now, read the guidelines, interpret them according to your taste, and send what you want. I'll figure it out as I go along. Looking forward!

Define "obscene." Such a subjective subject. Of course there's the usual, anti-social deviations of violent acts [nobody wants to see that malarkey. Sexual interaction between two, or more, consenting adults is fine, right? I guess it boils down to the demographic. What's the temperature in Ohio?

No worries Chris. I think I've got this and seriously, I hate to bring-up politics and religion with folks. Such volatile subjects.

Thanks, Jim and Keith. These guidelines are not written in stone and I am still working with the venue to refine them. Send whatever visual poetry you strongly want to include as an example of the wide variety of vispoetic practices in mail art. I am going to do everything I can to make this event as open and inclusive as any mail art event should be.

Jim, subliminally political content. Hit 'em where it counts, in the subconscious.

Sorry Chris, but I had to put it out there . . . no one will know until the crowds run rampant in the streets after opening night. No, not really. (yes Jim [covertly], yes Jim [covertly], yes Jim [covertly], no overtly political messages [subliminally, surreptitiously, covertly]. No worries Chris, we're good.

Comment by jim leftwich on February 2, 2018 at 6:29pm

no overtly political content? but the history of vispo in mail art is intensely and pervasively political. and we can only hope that the future will be similar.

it is 2018, and this show will be in the united states. you should insist on political content.
