The interesting an d wonderful world of DIY culture. What is a Zine you may ask? A Zine i s a handmade and self-published magazine that can be reproduced in a c ost-effective manner and distributed to the public or traded with othe r zine creators and collectors. They can include many forms of printed matter, from limited-run artist books to cut-and-paste photocopy fanz ines, and everything in between. ‘The Zine Scene’ exhibition explo res the origins of zines from the original punk fanzines of the 1970†™s, to the indie alternative zines of the 1990’s, and the evolution of what artists create today with a mix of various themes and ideas. Z ines can be about anything, simple or complex, featuring culturally-lo aded objects or themes, and even completely random things. Zines date back to the early 1930’s, but to this day continue to be vital in pr oviding individuals with a means to share and express their ideas and opinions. This unique exhibition will highlight those viewpoints and p romote the importance of self-publishing for all. We invite you to exp ress your self and submit your best work to be featured within ‘The Zine Scene’ exhibition.\n \nSUBMISSION RULES \nThis exhibition is open to all artists living in the US. Zines must not have been previou sly exhibited with TCAA. All zines must be ready for display. All zine s will be hung on the wall with a clip, if other hanging systems are r equired due to delicate work, the artist is responsible for providing that with their zine. No zines shall violate any copyright. Zines shou ld be appropriate for all audiences. If your zine includes mature cont ent, please let us know so it can be screened for our viewers. If you wish to donate your zines to our zine/artist book library at the end o f the show, we welcome any submissions, please let us know. All zines will remain in the gallery for the duration of the exhibit. There is n o submission fee for this exhibition. Artists may submit up to 3 zines .\n \nHOW TO SUBMIT \nFirst, complete the online submission form on our website. Second, drop off or ship your zines to the gallery. Zine submissions will not be juried. Once you have completed your submissio n form, you can deliver/ship your zines to the gallery anytime before the due date.
