 , 2009\n\nRequesting your original mail art for display and sale to ra
 ise funds\nfor The Claremont Forum's Prison Library Project, which sen
 ds\nthousands of books free to inmates throughout the country. Hundred
 s\nof volunteers package books (donated to the Project by our local\nc
 ommunity), which are then mailed in response to inmate letters\nreques
 ting reading material while incarcerated. For many years, The\nClaremo
 nt Forum received these requests in hand-illustrated envelopes\ncreate
 d by the prisoners who sent them. It is in this tradition that\nwe pre
 sent POSTMARKED as our very appropriate fundraiser.\n\nPlease join us 
 for this international event! Your mail art may be\npainted, stamped, 
 collaged, printed, and/or otherwise decorated or\nconstructed. It may 
 be any shape and size that will go through the\nmail and receive an of
 ficial postmark. It may get worn or torn\nthrough the mail, but the ha
 ndling process is an important part of\nthe theme.. Only the side with
  the postmark can be displayed, due to\nspace limitations, but the art
  doesn't have to be limited to that\nside. You may include any message
  inside the envelope, which will be\nopened only by the person who pur
 chases the art envelope.\n\nAll POSTMARKED 2009 entries will be on dis
 play at the Claremont Forum\nfor a week, during which time visitors ma
 y place silent auction bids.\nAll sales proceeds go to the Prison Libr
 ary Project. You\nmay submit more than one piece… and begin sending
