David - REALLY glad the DeskTops are coming in useful :-)!! I'm thinking all the doodling and squishing and mulching came about as a result of a few students following your advise EXACTLY!!! If you want me to send you all the images - happy too:-) XX
David! I think your new year's card finally made it to Japan. It doesn't bear the usual red stamp so I'm not entirely sure, although it does look like you on the back of the card. I luuuv the dragon and quote, thank you!!
I'm enchanted, David! "TIME" has arrived in Greece...and I am living in a 1951 dream world! 'Tis a pity that magazines that cost only 20 cents, now need $15 for postage!!! Ah, the TIMEs have changed! Thank you so much...something in the mail to you soon!
(and will post some great pics at "enchanted" group, too!)
You're right, it's fascinating to have this window in another time. I'm working a lot with an old german journal "Westermanns Hefte" from 1927/1928, a rather dark view of the world, - the optimism of the 50's seems to be quite the opposite...
David, just got the Times's yesterday, they are super!! Will send something soon, and "reimburse" (right word? you know what I mean), I love those old advertisements - one of them already hangs in our bathroom ("Good dental hygiene") - superduperthankyou
Well, if you like 40+ year old Mums who've been around the block a few times, I'll see what I can do. Don't hold your breath though. Or ask her to sing for you -- her stuff's pretty bad.
Bonjour David! I received the Time mags yesterday...many thanks indeed. they look fantastic, especially the ones from 1951. I was only a wee lad then (aged 5) so don't remember the times, but will read them today with great interest...and a big mug of tea and the last bit of Xmas cake left over for such a Special Reading Occasion.
Can I send you something back from France? Alas, the Eiffel Tower is too big to fit into an envelope, but you can have President Sarkozy with the greatest of pleaseure. (he is very small, and would fit quite easily into an A4 envelope). Let me know...
I just spent a good half an hour lurking your facebook pics and laughing, and laughing. My better half is a sculptor and we just had a studio party here last weekend, had we known. If you ever find yourself headed this way and would like to come play, let me know. We would love to have you.
Thank you David, I silk screened it using plastisol ink instead of a water based usually used for paper just because I really like the texture of the plastisol

Thanks again, and best wishes for 2012, Val
The blog entry I'm writing will never properly convey the glee with which I opened this package. But I will try. I took a video too!
Holy. Shitballs.
I received your card today, many thanks. I very much enjoy it
