I started corresponding with Ryosuke in 1983. A few years later he started his Brain Cell project. He has done over 800 and I have participated in half of them. What questions do you have?

Oh Boy.

Thank you Patricio for your warm welcome! I am an newbie to this experience but looking forward to it. Just entered my first online postcard exhibit...for Collage Artists of America (I'm a member! & on the Board of Directors).  I created two postcards (I'll try to post them on here soon for you to see!)  Loved the experience, and can see this will be an addictive hobby!  I am a mixed media artist and lead a co-operative group of experimental artists here in Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley.  I'm still trying to figure out how this blog works? So your patience is appreciated!!  Sending warm wishes from southern California.~Barbara

Yep those early pioneering days of space exploration were exciting. I remember feeling very sad that  Laika (when reading about it at school a few years later) had died - being the first mammal to ever die in orbit. It seemed all rather heartless but... Where are those pioneering days now! Take me to a frontier now!!!

Patrico...

When asking a person if they speak english - it is important to be aware of how you phrase the question...

Your comment on Maria Mariutza profile could easily be misunderstood....

Thank you for you expanded awareness on this topic.

The video was a simple fun thing to do - the music came from a release I had on eetapes from Belgium  (1990). The idea for the project came from rummaging through old boxes of stuff and found the newspaper cutting of an astronaut on the moon – yellowed and faded – it still makes my heart flutter. I wish I’d been to the moon.

As an 11 year old I watched the first moon landing in 1969. I was mad about everything to do with space travel, I would read anything that was about rockets, cosmonauts and astronauts. Later in my life I shook the hand of a man who shook the hand of my all time hero Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin, that was for me like touching history, if only secondhand.

Here is a newspaper clipping (jpg) about the exhibition click here

Love your photo's by the way.

You can see from the list of the exhibitions my work has been included in, that there has been a long gap between making mail art, however, having said that I have from time to time made what I call visual poetry, and I've placed some of them on my blog. Thanks for your lovely welcome to this group.

I was asked to "work" in the Mail Art part, or field of the museum, because I'm the most involved person there. That can easily mean, that I will send people many-many mail arts, because I really fancy this way of thinking and this freedom, that only the Mail Art can give. However, there are often projects. Not only a museum can reliese a project, but in this case, it does. I am not only asking the world to send us their artwork, I rather say that the museum is ready to show, and rumor such great artist worldwide that can be found in all of you. I can not be only "myself" here, although I will, of course, but I was asked to stand for the Stamp Museum firstly. I really hope you will be also one of the artist who's work will be proudly displayed in our exhibitions. To show this way of thinking to the Hungarian artists and philatelists!

We'll be in touch, and have a nice day!

Dear Patricio,

I am glad you wrote to me, especially because I myself is an artist, I graduated as a graphic designer MA last year. I've made only one Mail Art or so, in my life, but I try to keep up. My mission here is to communicate between with you all and the Hungarian Stamp Museum of Budapest, that is glad to open up for something new: to be a beloved place for Mail Artists as well. We will have very soon a big Mail Art project, and I'd be happy if You'd also participate in it.

I will upload the poster soon here, and on facebook: http://www.facebook.com/Belyegmuzeum Please give us a like there if you can, and get our freshest news!

I hope I'll hear from you!

Monika
