I took advantage of the only hour today when it wasn’t raining to go for a walk. The rest of the day was spent writing or working on the sound piece.
Tomorrow I have to look for a theatre that will allow me to use the stage area to make a portrait of Enzo Minarelli as, up to now, neither the foundation nor I have had success in getting permission from any of the theatres we have tried. I was not aware that theatre people are so possessive of their space.

Hello Rod. Shall patiently await hearing Venice. Some lovely, remarkably clear, images.

Yes Suzze, It's canal water into which someone has emptied soap... apparently, it looked like milk but who would throw milk into a canal... then again who would throw soap? I made a few photos of the phenomenon, all good.
Dreary days in Venice... nah it's good I made some progress with the audio composition and cleaned the scum from the inside of the tea pot. I'd go to bed early but it's late already.

Oh finally figured out the mysterious picture. It's the canalwater, right?

Hi, thank god, there are even dreary days in Venice. Compensates a bit for this dreary day here. my 1st day off on this first working week.. many plans to enjoy it outdoors.... and......... it rains the minute I'm ready with the necesarry chores... Enough to make you depressed. But tried to make the most of it anyway. Done some sowing of flowerseeds. Transplanted the little tomatoplants in their seperate pots. Still need to get some new seeds for my Paprika's and chillies as the ones that were left from last year don't seem to want to germinate. Ah well. You can't have everything. So you have yourself a nice cup of tea, I will make myself one too. And we'll both find comfort from it. Tomorrow is another day. Maybe lady Internet will look more kindly on you then.
Greetings

My third Wednesday in Venice and as it is Wednesday I had to vacate the apartment early in order to allow the cleaning lady access in her quest to discover dust and dispose of it. As I put the kettle on the hob to boil the water for my early morning lemon and honey drink I saw it was raining.
The light changes dramatically when the sky is overcast and the streets are wet. So armed with a small umbrella I set forth but a steady increase in the level of precipitation caused me to give up after only an hour and I returned to the apartment to spend some time making a still-life of the fruit I had bought earlier at the market.
The cleaning lady informed me we are suffering the weather condition known as the Sirocco, which is a depression in metrological terms, yes that is the feeling, depression, I lack motivation to anything but sleep and drink tea. On top of that the Internet connection has been down most of the day which has frustrated me as I have been unable to keep up with my email correspondence. It is still down as I type this text, will I be able to post a selection of the few pictures I did manage to take?
Oh well, I will continue with the assembling of the sound work for Venice.
AH! I see that the connection has been restored; I’ll post this now whilst the going is good…

hi again Dave, I received back today the two gondola-shaped postcards I had addressed to myself, posted in Venice the other day: one is perfect, the other is a bit battered in places but still together, both have NOT been postmarket (I told you they do not postmark the mail from big cities anymore: a joy for recyclers!). I do not even need to scan the two pieces then, because they'd look exactly as before mailing. Let me know if you get the card sent to Maastricht. Good snapshooting etc etc V.
