i am not a prankster; i am a free man!

(dr.) Zack here, alive and well; no relation to David (that i am aware of...)

DVS is correct -- coincidence; keep calm and mail art.

Thank you IIya & Chris,

I had meant to mention and absolutely should have that one narrative - one supported by official records apparently - is that David Zack died in Texas, USA, not Mexico.

People who knew him can verify he fluidly moved in and out of the USA, Canada & Mexico (his parents possibly having a home in Mexico.)

Zack is alleged to have been receiving Social Security payments meant for his deceased parents, which - if true - is a serious legal offense. All this to say - his movements during his later years are murky. Oh, and he was diabetic.

Strange coincidences:

Death certificate says April 1, 1995. April Fool's Day. But falsely reporting a death or altering a death certificate is very serious.

David Zack's (supposed) death comes shortly after Ray Johnson's suicide in January 1995. Strange?

Again, a mail artist from Washington State reported right here at IUOMA-Ning that he had seen Zack several years ago, well after 1995.

I am content to let David Zack rest, but there are some odd occurrences surrounding his death.

The public record (easy to find and verify) says he died in Texas on April 1, 1995. But it's that "April 1" date that makes people wonder if the public record is true, right? Who knows?

In the event that a person died in a state prison in Mexico, this fact is easy to verify. It is enough to initiate a request to the Mexican prison authority. This may be a private request, a request from a Museum, or a Department of art...

I guess it's just a coincidence, but David Zack was a well-known mail artist who died/disappeared about the same time as Ray Johnson (1995).

We've had a few pranksters (?) over the years at IUOMA-Ning claiming David Zack is still alive. Zack did die(?) mysteriously in Mexico where he had founded an "Immortality Clinic" but possibly died in jail. It's a very odd tale w/variations so whenever I see the name Zack in mail art I take notice.

Again, I'm sure it's a coincidence.
