Sad news about Samantha (Sam) price

Hi, everyone

I learned the sad news that Samantha (Sam) Price passed away last month. http://iuoma-network.ning.com/profile/SamanthaPrice

She had been suffering from severe myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome.

Her obituary is here https://www.legacy.com/obituaries/lowellsun/obituary.aspx?n=samanth...

You can also leave comments for her family here: https://memorial.davisfuneralhomenh.com/samantha-price/4193073/inde...

Sam was confined to her bed for the last 3 years of her life, and mail art was her connection to the outside world. She lived with her father, who I am sure was familiar with her passion for mail art. I was amazed at what she created given the very small space she was able to work in. Sam sent out over 200 envelopes and mail art pieces in 2019, and she was so happy to have this as her creative outlet.

Rest in peace, Sam.

Over the moon,

and high in the heavens,

may Samantha rest in peace.

I am very sad to hear this news. I received her beautiful PC not long ago and I was looking forward to do more exchanges with her. In my reply I wrote her that it was inspiring to see her doing art.

Very sad to hear this.  I received this wonderful envelope from Sam last year.

I think this is an OK place to express how you feel, Sabrina. In these messed up times, this kind of thing hits harder than it might otherwise have done.

I hope, too, that Sam's spirit has an awesome journey now, free of the physical restraints she lived with for years.

A lovely idea to share her work, Carmen. Every time I see people post her envelopes I think of one word to describe her mail art - Joyful.

Thank you very much for telling us, Phillip. This message messes me up more than I want to admit to myself. But I know from an exchange with Sam only few days before her death that she was more than ready and content with this. I don't want to say rest in peace. I want to say "have an awesome journey, Sam! We'll miss you a lot here!".

I will miss Sam. She was such a beautiful soul and her spirit shone brightly in her mail art. She is home now among the stars that she so loved. Here are a few of the mail art pieces she sent me. Reading the note from March 26, 2020 she ends with "Be well during these interesting times,"

Great nickname for Sam, Carien. She was very fond of playful versions of her name:

Supernova Sam
Samsation
Priceless
Sha-sam!
Samurai

I am shocked to hear about Sam's passing. Just last week I sent her my C-Post, my project that Sam was involved in, because she sent me a stunning envelope with a handwriting that looked at if it was printed. She had a lot of humor and stimulated everybody to adress her in a creative way. That is why I wrote to Sam Ashing - slow for smashing, because she made smashing things. She very much liked that name.

Sam, where ever you are, rest in peace. Your spirit will stay.

Thank you for letting us know of Sam's passing. One could only be inspired by her courage and creativity. The last piece of mail art that I received from her was posted April 16, 2020 shortly before her death. So I am particularly saddened by this loss to the mail art community.
