I received very rare correspondence from certified "Legend of Trashpo" Lisa Iversen (Indiana, USA). I know Lisa Lisa was a friend to many Trashpoets here, second only to DK herself and a few others. Please remember Lisa is "retired."

This is for Asemic Front, but I know HERE the brilliance of Lisa Lisa's Trashpo will be accepted, understood & appreciated.

I found a children's book on the day in the life of a garbage truck--perfect for an altered book: "The Trashpo Story!"

Who wants first crack at it?

Richard Canard sent this class-A trashpo from the streets of Carbondale, my lucky day. (So. Portland isn't classy, but clearly I'm on the wrong side of the tracks.) Many trashpo thanks to Richard for raising my stash to the highest of levels. May this piece multiply in the night, in its own random ways ---

Trashpo, "art made with discarded objects and bits and pieces found littering the environment," is the real thing, yes. I'm just a trashpo admirer and hanger-on, around the edges. I do pick up all that stuff and love it, can't part with it, yet only occasionally does it make it into the art for some reason.

It doesn't seem time for Post-Trashpo yet, DVS, do you think? The principle seems to have spread to far corners that occasionally pop up in print or elsewhere online or even in galleries. But I'm just guessing -- you're the main naming expert here.

Awww! DVS you say the nicestes fings.

My question to Nancy and the World was triggered by my understanding, such as it is, of all the reading and re reading of the wealth of literature dealing with the subject in the discussion forum. I always interpreted Trashpo as art made with discarded objects and bits and pieces found littering the environment. I assumed said stuff would always be worn and spoilt. I have gone to the trouble to expose final artwork to the elements to wear nicely, or horribly, one could say.

Nancy's pieces are superbly pure, not my idea of garbage, aethetic Trashpo indeed, hence my doubts.

Better keep preconceived ideas down and the origin and/or essence of Trashpo remote and mysterious.See how it evolves I humbly propose. DK is back I understand. And that is a reason to celebrate.  Long live the Queen of Trashpo!

I am off to collect stuff, today is an ideal day, rainy and windy, lots of rubbish rolling around on the streets of Retailia.

It seems like a cop-out to suggest interested parties should read what's been written about Trashpo during the last 10 years, but it's probably the best way to understand it.

What I find interesting now is the artists and poets associated with Trashpo are trying to find their way since Trashpo sort of collapsed due to the strange disappearance of Diane Keys (and/or the appearance of these people claiming to be DK.)

I guess it's Post-Trashpo now, but I don't want to give it a name.

It's so strange to read Martha - a mover and shaker in DKULTUK - asking NBS - close friend of DK - if Nancy's work is Trashpo. And Nancy doesn't know.

Gives you a look at the true mechanisms of culture and getting yourself associated with a "movement."

Is it "Trashpo - the first ten years"? or

"Trashpo - 10 years down the drain"?

Martha & NBS - I do know you are true Legends of Trashpo.

Good question, Martha. Painted bookpage scraps that often sure look + act like trash on my floor go into most work like this, but the essence of trashpo is something else. DK is THE queen of real trashpo, in my opinion (and I love it). DVS has been great at sorting out the nuances. (Think he stuck me in an "aesthetic" trashpo category, maybe even the Martha Stuart Wallpaper category, which was a riot and likely where I belonged.) Maybe he'll weigh in here. I'm still confused myself; a lot of time has passed since the origins of trashpo, so you're not alone.

Scrumptious piece by Nancy Bell Scott. (sorry about the low case 'b'. It is my affliction)

But, is it Trashpo? Seems too good, not that Trashpo is not good, in  its way.

Having just now read the definition of Trashpo I am beyond being confused.

They're just like your 30 sec scrap art. No thought, just bundle up your ideas in mid sentence."

Very illuminating to me, not to mention poetically stated. Diane. And the rest of that comment. It's on the wall in my new unpacked art place. It makes sparks.
